:ausb: Love the pictures of you and your babies but am wondering if breeding is the best thing for you to do right now at this stage of your life. Maybe better ask yourself these questions:

1. do you have a thorough knowledge of what is involved in budgie breeding and baby budgie care? (having a nest box is not enough, problems do happen).

2. do you have the funds to access veterinary care whenever required or somebody that can assist you about budgie breeding as birds may become eggbound or the babies may encounter problems, such as splay leg, feeding problems, hard to deal with on your own as you have to be there most of the time and I cannot imagine at your age, being available all the time.

3. do you know where and to whom your babies will be going?

4. have you got additional cages if problems result and parents/siblings have to be separated?

Again, if you have the above points covered, good, you are a responsible owner and I applaud you for doing your research. I am asking you this as I may go have to pick up some rescue budgie babies tomorrow that the owner did as an "experiment" and have decided that they no longer want. I will take them if I have to but I already have quite a few rescue birds here. Breeding budgies is serious business and just not "fun to do".

Sorry if I sound harsh but I just wanted to ask you to ask yourself if this is the right thing to do at this point in time.

Okay Thankyou, Well for the questions I don't have as much knowledge as I woudl like, I'm still learning. Right now I have over $100 saved up for them, still saving too. I plan on buying two new cages for them and keeping the babies.

Do you think I am prepared enough? I would be able to be tehre for the babies all the time during the summer but once school starts at the end of August I will only be tehre for them before and after school...

Maybe I should wait until next sumemr totry? or even later?

I want to make sure they are safe. So I don't have to breed them,

What would you think?

:) I think you are a very :hap: smart girl and thanks for putting on the brakes and thinking about this! Why don't you start a post under the breeder section, tell them what equipment you have, what time you have to devote to this venture, the money you have available for vet care and see what everybody thinks!! (and make reference to this post so people can look at it). Like a list of pros and cons. Only YOU can make this decision and if breeding isn't right for your situation RIGHT now, you can always pursue it down the road! Thanks so much for reconsidering! :ausb:
