Considering This Pair

Featured Replies

I'm thinking in the next few days (after Banjo has gone home and my black cage is free again) i'll bring a pair inside for breeding. The greens in the aviary are grossly under represented, (Laughing out loud), so i would like to get some nice greens from the pair.

My first choice of pair would be Jasper/Bobby/Budge x Pudding (skyblue spangle x dominant pied lt green).

Am i correct in thinking this could get me spangles, pieds, normals and spangle pieds - all green?

(she has a pied spot)

Pied spots that size also relate to split recessives Bea. So is she split recessive or is she from Dominant pied parents. In my experience that small a spot usually means split recessive. Also is she split for blue ?

She had one dominant pied parent and one recessive pied parent. She's not split to blue.

I've gone with a different pair instead. Lime (normal green/recessive pied) x DimSim (normal cobalt/recessive pied). What's the chances of getting recessive pieds from this paring. They're in Tim's room for a few days so i can just see they're in good health (both seem very lively and healthy), and then they'll move to my room and be given a nest box.

you'll have 25% chance of getting a recessive pied. :budgiedance:

Aww, is that all. :budgiedance: I was hoping that it would be more likely than that.

if you swap one of them to a recessive pied, you'll get 75% recessive. :budgiedance:

I don't own any recessive pieds! That's why i was hoping these guys might replenish my pied population a little. :budgiedance: Not to worry, if i get even one that will be a treat, and i'll be happy with whatever babies they produce.

yeah Iwas just looking at your signature, and didn't see any recessive pied. hehe

It's worth mentioning that Lime's daddy was split to ino and cinnamon. So 50% chance Lime has those splits too, right?

yes that would means that there's a 50% chance that he's split for those mutations.
