Todays Show Results

Todays budgie show saw me taking 14 birds. I was up till late last night preparing new show cages.

When I got there, I transferred the birds into their individual show cages from their travelling cage and promptly had to disqualify one of my birds...

I trapped the end of his tail in the show cage door and he pulled away minus his two tailfeathers :P So he was unshowable, and spent about half an hour shaking his booty to settle down his sore butt. This was made up to him, as everyone who saw him for the rest of the day remarked on how lovely he was and why wasn't I showing him...he was so nice. The evidence was on the show cage floor :D

So I benched 13 birds for show.

Results were 5 firsts, 4 seconds and 4 thirds.

The funniest thing happened though :)

A nice green opaline hen who came first surprised everyone by laying an egg off the show cage perch !! :P

Believe it or not

She hadnt been with any particular cockbird I knew of as she had been in a holding cage, but she was making goo-goo eyes and kissing with a certain blue fallow boy I have ...........so who knows ?!

Comments from the judges were...

I'd put that bird straight in a breeder cage if I was you. :(

My day at the show :)

Congrats on your winnings on all your birds :P

(Laughing out loud) about your hen :)

Well done Kaz.....was that the show at swan valley......if it was I got there about 1pm but it must have finished...because there weren't many people there at that time.....

I saw some nice birds though ....they were huge...

No, not Swan Valley. I was elsewhere due to both show and work commitments on the same day as it turned out. :)

Congratulations Kaz on a good result, I hope you saved the egg, it might be a show winner. Born into the show ring...(Laughing out loud).

No, the judges removed it as it broke on the bottom of the show cage. :)

Well done Kaz.. ^_^ sorry to hear about the tail.. But I think in my post about Murphy's Law there is a point about the tail being attracted to the show cage floor. :)

:) Good job on all the placings Kaz, as for the egg, ^_^

Tails are also attracted to freshly painted show cage doors Daz :P

I have to stop teasing you about eggs from this point on Robin, as I have eggs appearing from everywhere right now. I have caught your egg disease :D

This opaline green hen gave no indication of an imminent egg. No lump at the vent, no tail pupping, no stress, nothing. Just out it popped. :fear

:ausb: :(Laughing out loud):
