Nice Then Mean Then Dead!

I had my first parakeet, a blue "wonder". He would hope on my finger, he could almost some out of the cage. Then, one night, I went to go to Walmart to get him food. Before I left, I tried to get him on my finger and talk to him. He started flying aruond the cage then he started biting me. I thought, maybe I came too quickley or something. So, I forgave him, and let that happening go past my memory. Then I came back and he was laying on the ground, DEAD! :D

He wasn't breathing at all, no movement at all either. He had food and water, toys, attention. What could of gone wrong????

He has already passed away (unfortunately), and that happened about 2 years ago...

What happened??

We can’t advise you what killed your bird; there are many things they can die of & often real sudden like, as in your case. The fact that the bird was acting strange & bit you was just a normal symptom, showing that something was wrong. If the bird is sick or close to death as happened, it wouldn’t be happy to be handled at that time.

Really? Cause i am not seeing if anyone can officially diagnose it. Maybe if anyone have had similar happenings. Cause this birds was about 6 months old. I guess its just one of life mysteries...*sigh*.

:D

It could have been anything.

Your bird may have had a fit, it may have been sleeping when you went to handle it last and been startled and disoriented, impacted the cage walls too hard, or it could have been ill.

Don't let it scare you off having more birds. Sometimes these things just happen to them like they can happen unexpectedly to humans. At least here there are a lot of people with a passion for budgies and a wealth of knowledge. They can help you recognise any warning signs in the future, put your mind at ease if a seemingly odd behaviour really is "normal" :) and when necessary extend a sympathetic voice when "**** happens" ...

Unfortunately budgies are very good at hiding any sickness. Even people with 100's of birds would not be able to offer suggestions, they would only be really sure if they had taken the bird to the vet first and had medication for a certain illness. Most of the illnesses they get have the same symptoms as well. The other way to know is for a vet to do an autopsy.

yeah....
