Breeding Advice Needing For Baby Budgies

Hi, i'm new to breeding and found this forum very information, so i've got some questions i hope someone can help with.

my hen has laid 6 eggs and all hatched no. 6 was born tuesday.

i'm just a little concerned. baby #5 was born the day after #4. (#4 was born fri 29th june, #5 was born sat 30th june). is this normal?

the baby is growing good feed well and is very cute. i just wanted to find out if it has happened to anyone else. #6 was born on the Tue 3rd july (correct day for egg to hatch).

Concern with #6 this one isn't getting feed as much because of the older chicks i have checked reguarelly and found food in the crop, but not as much as others are getting. Should i help handfeeding the chick so it gets more food? and what would you recommend for the hand rearing formula?

i will try to post pictures i took of each chick (and to also show off my gorgeous babys) so you can see the little one.

Both hen and cock are feeding (very dedicated) hen wont leave nest cock gets food. its very cute. and im proud of her.

This is also her second clutch, first came 4 beautiful chicks. now 6 eggs and all chicks hatched.

shes going to have a very much deserved rest after this clutch.

Thanks Jaie

Dont know how to post pics if you can help aswell it would be wonderful.

Nothong is to the book everytimes with chicks. I had a chick hatched last night that wasn't due till monday.

I won't worry about that. If you want to get some extra feedings to the youngest, Passwells and Vetafarm both have very good hand raising mixes that you can get at the pet or produce stores.

Daz is right it depends on how tight the mother sits on the eggs, as tot he time the hatch. Some hatch early others later 18 days is just a guide.

Here is a link on how to post pictures on this forum.

hi, mum and dad are eating seed that was mixed with yogurt (small amount of yogurt to seed ratio, so it has dried), cuttle bone, spinach (mum and dad love spinach), millet spray, egg and biscuit mix, and i put once a week to two weeks acti - vit - in the water i think thats what its called. Is there anything you would recommend for me to add/change? or does this sound like a good meal for the parents.

the #6 chick i checked tonight and it had a lot more food in the crop , that made me very happy, and i had something different happen. when i had my hand in the box to look at the chicks , dad was sitting just out side and he leaned in and started to nibble on my hand. very delighted.

babys are getting a lot more fluffy, they grow so quick..

the Yogurt is an interesting mix. Although I don't have a problem with it as long as it is changed regularly so it doesn't go off.

You could add some other veggs and fruit (e.g corn, carrot, broccoli, apple, pear) with the spinach for more of a mix. but it sounds as if your doing great.

hi, the old owner/breeder of the parents and some of the other budgies i have said she did it, when it mixed through properly it accually dries and none of the seed is stuck wet together its very unusual she accually did it to her big bucket of seed (im not so game) it seemed to work when i had a look, i thought i would give it a try to see how it goes in small amounts given to the birds. i have tried carrot the other day so i`ll try some of the other veges you suggested.

Thanks!!
