Posted July 4, 200718 yr If you know the answer to any of these questions please say them. 1. Are their any points taken away for showing Yellow face birds? 2. What do I look for to make sure they are a good yellow face budgie? 3. Are their any good pairings for yellowface? (Faults to good things or colors or other mutations) Thank you
July 4, 200718 yr Standard for the YF 1 from BBC Show Forum I know I have read that Yellowface 2 are greatly penalized. Yellowface Mutant 2 and Goldenface can be bred in single factor forms but it is desirable that only the double factor forms are exhibited as unavoidable confusion can be caused with single factor examples due to the heavily increased suffusion of yellow into the body colour which distorts the basic blue to green/blue shade. Spillage of yellow colour from the mask in Yellowface Mutant 2 double factor and Goldenface double factor is permissible but should be no more than minimal and confined to the area of the body adjacent to the bottom edge of the mask. http://www.world-budgerigar.org/
July 5, 200718 yr 1. Are their any points taken away for showing Yellow face birds? Yes any suffusion (bleed) of green into the body gets penalized. 2. What do I look for to make sure they are a good yellow face budgie? If your wanting to start with show birds then the same points as a normal bird. This would be my thoughts although I'm only just starting with show birds. 3. Are their any good pairings for yellowface? (Faults to good things or colors or other mutations) just watch for suffusion in the birds (the type 2 yellowfaces) Edited July 5, 200718 yr by **KAZ**
August 20, 200718 yr I am breeding yellow face, it is not a good idea to breed yellow face to spangle because you nearly always get the yellow bleeding through the wings etc. When you purchase a yellow face bird just make sure there is no yellow in and on the body. When breeding you are better to breed to the blue series which includes the grey than the green because if you breed to the green you will get some yellow face green and you more than likely will not know because the green is masking it, so that means you will have yellow face popping up everywhere in the future. And that can be very annoying. As for showing if you put a yellow face in the yellow face class, it will be judged as a yellow face and points will be marked on the same as any other type bird. But you will be marked against if the bird has yellow bleeding through it. I breed to normals & opalines with my yellowfaces. This is only my opinion and advice that I have got off breeders. I just got this from the budgerigar Council of Victoria site. It is Standard, what is allowed for yellow faces It reads As for normal series blue but with a bright yeloow mask & frontal, other features as for corresponding non yellow face varieties, includes Blue series in Black eyed self, Red eyed self, Clearwing, Gretwing, Cinnamonwing, Lacewing, Opaline & Fallow. Then it says Secondary & tertiary tails may carry yellow. This site if you want to have a look tells you about all colours and varieties meaning it is what the judges judge you on. Good luck Edited August 21, 200718 yr by splat
