Posted January 2, 200520 yr Hey all, today for the first time my budgie ventured out of his cage after almost two weeks of hesitation He flapped around and got to a shelve and didn't move from there for 4 hours just looking around and not moving (is that normal?) I waited for him to fly back to his cage to get some food but he didn't he just tood there i ended up taking the cage up to where he was and putting a nice treat in so he hopped in and devoured all his food. Why doesnt he fly there himself if he was so hungry?

January 3, 200520 yr If it's the first time out of his cage, he probably didn't know how to get back. If my birds fly "off the beaten path" (so to speak) and end up in another room, even though they can see the door to get out, they just keep flying around the room like they don't know. Plus, I'm sure he was a little frightened and wasn't too sure if he wanted to move from his "safe" spot. Eventually he will fly back to his cage when he gets hungry or thirsty.
January 3, 200520 yr the thing is the cage was in a table in front of where he was......lazy bird i guess
