Butcher Bird Encounter

My first breeding pair have recently had 3 babies one died 2 days ago :( and this morning when i went to take out the second oldest from the cage (been out of nest for 2 days) i got him out and jumped of my finger and flew straight over the fence. i was so worried but in shock that he is able to fly so well even though he has been out of the box only for 2 days!!! for half an hour i jumped fences climbed trees looking for my poor little guy. when i was about to give up i saw a butcher bird up high in a tree staring at something a bit lower i screamed and jumped over my next door neighbours fence then........................ swoop went the butcher bird at the budgie but amazingly the budgie was faster!!!!!!! (a 4 week old budgie against like a 4 yearold butcher bird???) my budgie flew straight over another fence only to be joined by another butcher bird to butchers sitting on a fence staring down at my poor babie budgie i scaled the fence and again.... swoop went the butcher birds at my budgie but again faster than them it landed on a shed gutter up went the butcjers getting in a good position for another swoop. i sprinted to the fence and slammed a net over my budgie "i got it" i screamed so the hole neighbourhood could hear now beautiful baby is in his cage with his parents and is fine!!!! :D:) :(Laughing out loud): :D^_^:)

OMG what an experience, I am so glad it has a happy happy ending :D

You were very lucky you got that baby back safely. Good job. It teaches us to "assume" a baby budgie can fly right from the nest...as most of them can....its just that we arent ready for it. :D

That was lucky!!! Congratulations on such a heroic and successful effort!

Wow Kabel what an adventure! I can just imagine you jumping fences in a single bound bird net in toe:)

Glad you got him back in one piece.
