Hi all

Yesterday morning I went to visit my birds and what do i find? A drowned rat!!

Little Squirt was the only one that was wet... very wet at that! Quite amusing!

Great pictures. Was it raining or did he find a nice water dish to bathe (soak) himself in?

Yes it had been raining, but the others hadn't been enjoying the rain nearly as much!! I guess she decided she wanted to have a proper bath!!

At least it was a nice day for it (or at least it looks like it was) My birdies simply love to soak themselves on the coldest and windiest and generally the most inappropriate days...

I have one budgie with a feather problem he doesn't fly too well. The first time it rained this year he got wet and then couldn't fly at all. I found him sitting in a puddle looking allot like squirt. Thankfully a bit of drying off and warming up and he is good as gold. I keep a keen eye on him now:)

:D Very sweet, very CLEAN budgie! :ygbudgie:

Oh dear, I can just imagine him!!

:)

It's funny how much some budgies love to get wet :) They look so cute with their messed up feathers.

Feathers.

So cute!!!

What a cute little drowned rat!!!!!

hehehehehehehehehe

To me it’s amazing that that desire to get wet in the rain, must be genetical, some how embedded through time in their DNA. As my aviaries are completely covered over the top & they have no accesses to that luxury. So my birds including Cockatiels especially, I have noticed of late, when it rains outside, the birds go automatically into that bathing pose, fluffing up their feathers, holding their wings out & going through the actions of getting wet, when in their whole lives they have never had that experience, so it can’t be a learned response.

Very true Norm. Aww how cute... I just love it when they fluff up!

With my aviary budgies, the ones that cant get the rain from the top of the aviary press themselves hard against the front of the aviary wire trying to get wet from the rain...it seems almost desperate :P Others will swim around the perimeter of the drinkers to get wet in the trough section of the drinker. :D
