"who Are The Parents?"

Featured Replies

As some of you know I foster eggs to help the hens with larger clutches or if the hen has laid a third clutch that I don't want her to feed.

I have done this regularly an always try to place the eggs with pairs that are not compatable genetically. This is so it is easly to find the chick latter. For example I would place a egg from a pair of spangles to a pair of recessives. That way the odd chick out is the spangles.

But I have a small problem......

Pair 1 Cinnamon grey to yellowface cinnamon sky blue.

Pair 2 Malenistic Skyblue to Melanistic Skyblue

Pair 3 Skyblue to Lacewing.

(cocks noted first.)

Funny chick is a light green normal. Who are the parents???

I have worked it out but interested to see what you come up with and why. :(

:( okay Daz here is my thoughts:

Pair 3 are the parents. Simply becuase you didn't tell us the colour of the hen. All other pairs are of the blue line.

pair 1 - should have only cinnnamons

pair 2 - only blue babies, spangle, normal or DF.

I agree with Nerwen, if the Lacewing was a Yellow Lacewing.

Pair 3 if the lacewing is a yellow based bird

Pair 1 and 2 can only have blue babies (grey birds indicate a white/blue based bird)

i say three. The first two pairs are all in the blue series which means all the babies will have to be in the blue series a swell.

I am going to say pair 3 as well..

this was fun Daz...makes you think.

Thats the idea :) I had to stop and have a think about it. Having a throw back to the wide stage is not common with these matings.

that is weird.

Pair 1 Cinnamon grey to yellowface cinnamon sky blue

is it possible that the yellowface is actually a green series bird not a yf??

Otherwise I dont even think that would be possible.

what is weird? The answer is Pair 3 ;), Pair 1 would be impossible.

oh ooops. I always thing of yellow in the blue series because the yf. Nevermind, its pair three.
