June 23, 200718 yr Author oh with the baby oil, which brand do you use?? The only brand they had in the shop I was at - Gold brand. The lid wasn't on properly either and it make everything else I bought oily. Feathers.
June 24, 200718 yr Author Okay, as I was getting photos of all of the birds that this breeder bought down today I also got updated photos of how their scaley face treatment is going. Violet clearwing Day 1 day 6 day 11 Cobalt Normal Day 1 day 6 day 11 Looking better and better every day and yes, I am VERY pleased with how they are going. Feathers.
June 24, 200718 yr Gee Feathers I hope it is all worth the trouble, you have gone to.They are certenly improveing.
June 24, 200718 yr Author Gee Feathers I hope it is all worth the trouble, you have gone to.They are certenly improveing It is definitely worth the effort. I have a nice cock that I am going to pair with the violet lacewing and the cobalt cock has really good feather quality. Even if they were pet type birds it would be well worth the effort, its such a simple malady to fix I have given the cock a small beak trim and it really just needs filing down now. Feathers.
June 27, 200718 yr Good on you Feathers! Those poor birds! How could anyone let it get that bad? I've never actually seen scaly face before... now I know! They are looking so much better. It's good to see they are recovering. Well done!!!
July 31, 200717 yr That's so great. We have just treated my son's bird for scaly face. He started improving after just a couple of days and over the weekend we moved him into a small cage while we completely disinfected everything in his big flight cage and replaced all the wooden perches. He seems so much happier now too. I wish we'd taken photos as well. Edited July 31, 200717 yr by Smudgie

August 12, 200717 yr i have seen afew cases of scaly face before but never that bad, but they do seem to be getting lots better by the photos so good luck with the treatment and i hope they have a full recovery!
August 12, 200717 yr Author Both of these birds are now in the aviary. I will try to remember to get a photo in the next day or two.... not a sign that scaley was ever there. Feathers.
August 25, 200717 yr Author I only have one of these birds now. A friend was totally in love with one of them and has taken him home. As I was getting some photos in the aviary the other day I took this "after" shot... AFTER BEFORE Not a trace of the scaley left and she is a very happy girl these days, do excuse her scruffiness though, a lot of my birds are moulting... Feathers.
