Andromeda Biting

I'm glad I saw this message. Andromeda has been "attacking" my finger when I stick it through the bars of her cage. I just thought it was funny & that we were boxing. She doesn't bite hard, and she usually bobs obsessively afterwards. Should I let her keep doing this or discipline her with time out? I'm not trying to get her to step up when it happens, mainly just playing with her. When she bobs at my finger, I bob my finger at her.

 That's a totally different issue Dr Bork Bork. You shouldn't really be "poking" your finger at your budgie through the cage bars as that is an invitation to bite. (that's teasing her and not fair). So maybe you and Andromeda best think up new games that you both can enjoy and nobody gets bitten! :ygbudgie:

Any game suggestions?

:P If you aren't doing the step up , do that. Every bird is different, Andromeda may love throwing those plastic balls around or messing around with spinny toys. You can also thread paper strips through her cage bars and she can pull and chew them, just don't make your finger the point of interest. Your finger is yours and hers common ground and point of authority and training so it shouldn't be abused. Or play hide your favourite toy or make her forage for treats (wrap in paper). Use your imagination and have fun! But poking isn't play, think about mammals in cages being poked at and it makes them aggressive, same for birds. Good Luck with the pretty Andromeda!!! :)
