Hey guys,

Just a quick question my bird went to the vet yesterday for a red eye and the vet mentioned that a sore eye can be the sign of a cold in birds. So he put billy on Lincospectin in his water. I was just noticing that he is sneezing more today and when he sneezed on my finger i felt a bit of liquid come out. The lincospectin is a 2 week course. So you think that this is a sign of a worsening cold or should i not worry?

Thanks

Keep an eye on him if you find his behavior changes like fluffed up, not eating, very quiet I would call the avian vet back. One thing you should do is make sure he is very warm at least over 75F constantly. The warmer they are the better chance they have for fighting off any sickness.

Here is from Kaz how to make up a ER hospital cage. You can make one up as an emergency thing by just using a warm lamp outside a small cage and covering 2-3 sides of the cage, in an emergency.

Birds sneeze like we do for various reasons. My Boris has a disturbing habit of coming in for a kiss and then sneezing in my face!!

Give the medication time to work first, I'd give it a week.
