Posted May 25, 200718 yr Hi everyone - These are some pics of two of my babies. Mother was opaline mauve and father is visual violet. Here are 2 pics of the first baby - I have no idea what colour mutation he is - I have googled for pics - I'm not sure if he's a slate???? Probably not I know but ..... I have no idea :hap: Here are some pics of the second one - also no idea. Here is a picture of the recessive from the same lot :hap:
May 25, 200718 yr Gorgeous colors 1. baby is a mauve which means he has 2 dark factors 2. violet could be double factor because so dark 3. is a violet looks recessive pied possible double factor dominant pied (I hold my vote on the pied part) Edited May 25, 200718 yr by Elly

I think the colours are amazing :hap:
May 25, 200718 yr Yes that is the one of the indicator for violet so maybe your mauve baby is carrying the violet gene too. Merlin's are very navy and dark too he is a violet but not as dark. If you look at Merlin in my siggy you can see the coloration is similar to your babies but again not as dark, it is like a jean material coloration (that is how I describe it). There are different shades of violet. here is a picture of Merlin now you can see his cheek patches are dark , excuse his molting condition he is a bit scruffy Edited May 25, 200718 yr by Elly

I may have shown him to you before (excuse if I have) He's a much richer and lighter colour than the babies. Will try get a picture of Mum. Edited May 25, 200718 yr by memonty

Here is a picture of Mum and here is a picture of Dad and 2 babies. Dad looks blue in this one. The babies have just started to leave the nest - I think Mum has just kicked them out - she's started to lay again so it's going to be pretty crowded in there :hap: Edited May 25, 200718 yr by memonty

May 26, 200718 yr The first two babies are mauves of varying shades and the pied baby is a violet. Thanks Kaz and Elly. I am only going to start putting the rest of my birds down now as I wanted to make sure the new ones were all 100% healthy. Marlony, I also noticed the black wings. The markings are very intense - I think somehow the mauve brings out the black or makes it appear somehow darker (if black could be darker (Laughing out loud)). But yes, they are normals I belive. Thanks again for all your comments
May 26, 200718 yr I think they are beautiful. Sometimes it can be harder to tell with the young ones as they don't always obtain their full colour until they have gone through their first moult. Feathers. Edited May 26, 200718 yr by feathers
May 26, 200718 yr very stunning. I believe they are mauves with the violet gene turning the colour darker and richer.
May 26, 200718 yr Very interesting & very dark, like Feathers said, it will be interesting to see what they look like after their moult.
May 28, 200718 yr Very interesting & very dark, like Feathers said, it will be interesting to see what they look like after their moult. The most amazing thing has happened. The second bugie has gone the most amazing violet I've ever seen. Here is a photo to show her tail end. Also on her chest the feathers coming through are violet. It may show up blue but you can see the intensity.....
May 28, 200718 yr gorgeous, I love rumps (Laughing out loud) because this is really where the color is intense on most birds. Kaz's Steel in his picture of his backend is gorgeous.
