Posted May 25, 200718 yr I do not know the lineage of these birds. She is sitting on at least 2 eggs 1 of which is fertile. I didn't succeed in getting her to move off the eggs as she thought I was offering her my finger to preen! Ozzie: Gray Girl: What can I expect to get from these birds?
May 25, 200718 yr 50% normals 50% dominant pieds All her boys will be split to opaline All girls will be normals unless the dad is carrying the opaline gene If she is a double factor grey you will have 100% green greys If she is a single factor grey you will have 50% green greys 50% greens Then there are of course surprises in the nest from recessive genes that both carry or any sex-linked genes that the father is carrying and will pass on to his hens. Pretty birds Karen
May 25, 200718 yr I would think Karen that you could get young, Greens, Greys & if the father is split for Blue some blues. He looks like a dominant pied, so pieds of any colour, if the cock is split for Opaline, some Opalines of both sexes. If the father is also split for Ino either some Lutino or Albino hens. And if they are both split for some recessive traits some of them also. Good luck. Edited May 25, 200718 yr by Norm
June 2, 200718 yr Author Gray Girl died sometime Friday night. I found her outside the box on the floor. The eggs were cold & the fertile egg was dead in shell.
