Posted May 24, 200718 yr On another forum someone asked what the result of the pairing of a normal light green cock to a cobalt opaline hen. I said normal greens. If dad's split to blue then normal blues. If dad's split to opaline, then opaline male and females. Is this right? Someone else has said she will get opaline hens regardless of if dad is split? But i was sure this is incorrect, so came here for clarification...
May 24, 200718 yr Your right Bea The only way to thave visual opaline females is for the dad to carry the opaline gene and the only way to get visual opaline males is if the males gets 2 opaline genes from both parents since it is sex-linked and the males carries 2 xx and both need to be opaline to be visual, the female only carries 1 x and so that is why she only needs one opaline gene. I knew you knew this I just went into more details for others on the forum. Edited May 24, 200718 yr by Elly
