she is very pretty. Im thinking lacewing.

She looks like a yellow dilute..

:(

what color are her eyes?

Her yellow is way to strong to be a dilute.

She looks to be a lacewing if her eyes are red

I was thinking that but don't see the red eyes.

Looking again She could be a yellow spangle cinnamon.. Cinnamon has the diluting efect..

sometimes the red eyes dont come out right if you take a picture. Does she have red eyes??

if not Im guessing double factor spangle cinnamon

Nice bird I wish I could find one like that over here. My first thought was Lacewing, but it doesn’t have that Ino look. I think I agree with Marlony DF Spangle Cinnamon. But could be one of the rare varieties, black-eyed yellows with Cinnamon markings, but the Cinnamon markings sure look like they are affected by Spangle.

The wing markings are normal so not a DF spangle

Was she at your house when I was there?

To me she looks like a greywing as I have one similar but I'm trying to work out if those spots on her mask are brown or not- which would change my thought.

I have a cinnamon and a greywing that are both that colour.

(there is also such a thing as a cinnamon clearwing but the colours dont look quite right for this.)

maybe I should just say I really dont know!!

my initial thought is that it is a clearwings, but the cinnamon throat spot is throwing me off...

And if that's the yellow true to it's original colour (not on photo but real life), then it is possible that is is a clearbody as well.

if the bird doesn't have red eyes Ellulah I believe that is a good conclusion to the mutation, I agree. I don't see any spangling either personally :D.

I don't think she is spangle... maybe a Yellow Cinnamon?

This picture is of a 'yellow grey' cock. He looks allot like your bird...

Thanks for that site Ellulah, when I first came to this site I asked about yellows, which I knew when I was young & was only told about DEC & DF Spangles. I hope to get some of these older style yellows. There seems to be more of those type yellows over in the west. Al-Nasser's picture is of a grey yellow...maybe this bird is just a normal light yellow. I liked the complete yellow bird without wing marking.

The bird has black eyes not red. The Pie, yes she was here when you visited. Yes, the photo is true to colour.

I dont see the spangle marking at all...

And besides, how does DF spangle work? I thought it would mask the cinnamon.. or does cinnamon works similar in DF spangle and Inos where it shows up on top of the masking effect?

I am pretty sure she is either a Yellow Cinnamon or A Suffused Yellow Cinnamon - does she have any pale green on her? She looks to be a very dark yellow so possible carrying some dark factors or violet...

I am also sure that a DF Spangle would not show any wing markings at all.

I think she is very pretty! Maybe you should try breeding her to another Recessive Yellow or White Blue bird... if you can find one! They seem pretty rare.

There is no green on her at all. And you are right, a double factor spangle should have no markings at all. They look exactly the same as a lutino except for the eye colour and cere colour in cocks.

Any body else got any idea what it is?

Feathers.

Reading through information Aly (and you know what the mutation is) this is a great test for us :D. I have been reading and there are 3 types of yellows (that are not lutinos).

She could be a light yellow (of course you know my screen), cinnamon of course there are some things that disagree with her being a light yellow in the description of what they should be.

I think I have spent way too much time investigating :) so I will have to see what your correct answer is.

I will stick with Yellow Cinnamon and see what the answer is :D.

It seems I have you guys stumped.

Say hello to a Black Eyed Self.

This is one of the two I bought at our recent club auction. I actually thought a couple of you may have remembered I bought a couple of rare birds there and would go find the answer :P

I will start a separate post for Members Black Eyed Self birds for future reference.

Feathers.

hmm interesting. Is that the name for it as well in the 'non show' world?? just wondering. I don't know anything about the black eye self.. hehe.

Yes, it is Cheeta. It is, along with the Dark Eyed Clear ,a very rare mutation. Although this one is much easier to breed than the DEC. I have added the description of a black eyed self in this post:

http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....topic=15223&hl=

It is a recessive gene.

Interesting to note though that in the show world an albino is a white red eyed self and a lutino is a yellow red eyed self, as per the ANBC publication "The Standard".

ps. I banned Kaz from answering this post as she would have known straight off. :P
