Taming A Young Budgie

Featured Replies

Posted

Hello, I am very new to budgie breeding. We have three babies that are about 4-5 weeks old. I have started bringing them inside so they will get used to us. The oldest I think is a boy which we are going to keep as a pet and my son has named him suzy... I could be wrong about the sex, but no matter.

He happily sits on my shoulder and hand. Which is the better... hand or shoulder? Is this all I need to do to tame him? How do I teach him to talk?

Any tips would be much appreciated. :):D

Thanks Karen. I have looked in the faq's but couldn't see much on taming... maybe I was looking in the wrong area. I will keep looking. :)

Sandy, use the link I gave you above. :D

Working on a document as we speak about taming budgies.

Since you have a baby really what you are doing is all you need to keep doing :), he sounds tamed already you simply just want to keep him tame. Babies tamed right out of the nest are the simplest.

Do you have pictures we would love to see your babies.
