I got a new budgie today from an avian show in cannington. She is a beautiful lady but i can't seem to work out what sort of mutation she is. She has red eyes, violet rump, cinnamon wings with normal markings and her tummy and chest are a very very pale violet i thought it was a grey to start with but definately violet. I've taken some photos but i must say they don't do my beautiful girl justice. And now shes off to quarantine.

Looks like a Fallow with the red eyes.

Meg, I had forgotten all about that show. Someone mentioned it last week when I was at Kaz's place. I would have liked to have gone, but didn't know where and when. Pretty bird that you acquired.

I was at the show earlier too. but I didn't get any birds though. Just went to have a look at all the displays.

Are her eyes red or is it just the Picture???

She has violet in her Greywing???

Really fallow you reckon? I'd have never picked that. I was thinking along the lines of diulte violet??

 

Yes the eyes are red.

There is no violet in the wings just underthem on the rump. the wings are white and cinamon

 

The show was pretty good. Nice display. I didn't go to buy birds either but you know how it is when you spot a great one. They didn't have allot of budgies. But the ones they had really showed me the huge difference between pet and show budgies.

 

ohhh yes you guys were right!! She is a fallow!
