May 20, 200718 yr Author Congratulations and happy birthday from me too Feathers. Thanks guys, I'm 27 Tomorrow
May 21, 200718 yr I sooooooooooooooooooo feel your excitement!!!! Congrats!! I hope all the little eggies ( if there are more) hatch into sweet little bubs. Just a bit more on the mating egg laying thing. After egg 3, she has been chasing him off. No more mating..........guess what?........She had a heck of a time passing egg 4. It was about 12 hours late (day 3) and passed some blood with it. Was just getting ready to cart her off to the vet when she finally laid the egg. Waiting to see if there is a 5th, we shall see. I am still concerned with how active she is in the box. I constantly hear her moving the eggs around. I am afraid she is going to addle them.sheeeesh, silly hen! GOOD LUCk WITH YOUR PAIR, I hope we both have some cute little pink blobs soon........ Yipppeeeeee
May 22, 200718 yr Author 2 So far snow white is doing well 2 safe eggs today is her off day so due again tomorrow Her and Prince are safe in their own little breeding cage as they other male got violent... Prince is feeding her and goes in the box and stuff... She started sitting yesterday arvo 25 mins after i moved them ( i had the first egg in a safe place and put that egg and a marble ( 1st egg was splatted) and she sits on them... I am guessing there maybe another 2 -3 eggs to go But I am perfectly with my 2 ..... So when do I candle them???? she doesn't leave the box and I almost lost my finger having a sticky beak in there :budgiedance:

May 22, 200718 yr if you hen is happily sitting, you don't HAVE to candle the eggs ... depends on how much patience you have, whether you're willing to just wait and see what happens in about 3 weeks time or not! sounds like snow white is being a good mummy already

May 22, 200718 yr Sounds like she is sitting well Neat. As to saving your fingers use a pen to nudge her away :rip: I am still concerned with how active she is in the box. I constantly hear her moving the eggs around. I am afraid she is going to addle them.sheeeesh, silly hen! Hen have to rotate the eggs daily. from inside the circle to the outside to keep the temp just right.

May 23, 200718 yr Author Neat, dont panic about where the eggs are Patches(one of my hens) has had 3 clutches of eggs and never have they been in the concave. Good luck with the eggs. I decided to not worry ..... Concerned yes but not worried LMAO I looked this arvo as she is due to lay today and nothing else I am guessing that she will only lay 2 I know this is not the "Normal " thing to do Trust me my family is far from the Norm LMAO But because her and Prince no longer mate since i moved them from the aviary to the Laundry for peace and quiet as the other bird was killing snow white .... Come friday I can candle them as she is a good mummy and sits on them heheh can't wait
May 25, 200718 yr Author OMG how one earth can you cadle them in peace.... I will try again this arvo - night
May 25, 200718 yr OMG how one earth can you cadle them in peace....I will try again this arvo - night Hiya Neat, you can get flexible torches that are long and very thin that can be bent up to 180 degrees at the torch end. That way you don't have to move any eggs to candle them. I wouldn't be too worried about it though, just sit back, relax and wait to see what happens. Feathers.
