Posted May 18, 200717 yr She is due to lay egg #4 today. I have noticed that her behavior is a bit different today than on her laying days in the past. Question is, she still has large nasty poops today, does that mean she is going to continue to lay? Or better way to ask is: When do they stop having such HUGE poops? As soon as they are done laying, or does it last for a bit after?
May 18, 200717 yr I can't answer all the questions but the poos are due to them holding it during the egg laying process they want to keep the nesting box clean and you will also find that they do this when the babies are hatched too.
May 18, 200717 yr Keetcrazy…her large Poops, will last as long as the bird is breeding, they are caused by the bird spending large amounts of it’s time in the nest, where she won’t defecate. The are saved up & released when she comes off the nest. The babies defecate in the nest, but normally the mother wont. The most normal batch of eggs is probably 6, so she may lay more sometime even more than the 6. Edited May 18, 200717 yr by Norm
