Posted May 18, 200718 yr I wasnt going to show any birds during the week at the Club show. Was too busy with work deadlines to prepare any, but at the last minute looked around the aviary and breeding cabinets and chose 5 birds that were looking good and behaving themselves in their show cages. So I took them along. Good thing I did as I got 5 firsts and 3 best in show in their categories. 3 Bests were a normal grey young cock, an adult green clearwing cock, and a young danish recessive pied cock, They also got first in novice section as did two others, a young greygreen spangle cock and an adult grey green cinnamon opaline cock. The danish recessive pied cock so impressed the judge and some others it was suggested I enter him into the National Selections........however, birds for the Nationals have to be owner bred and this boy wasnt bred by me. He is breeding, so we hope for some nice chicks from him soon. I will try and do photos of these guys over the weekend for you. A very encouraging result considering I wasnt going to show and changed my mind at the last minute.

May 18, 200718 yr Well sounds good because I bet a lot of people STRESS out (Laughing out loud) and so do their bird
May 18, 200718 yr Kaz that's just teasing! You can't tell us all about your success without the photos! Congratulations! Can't wait to see them
May 18, 200718 yr Author Well sounds good because I bet a lot of people STRESS out lol and so do their bird It is a stressed bird that will not "throw" its head feathers forward and "show" as it should. The relaxed showbird is one that "shows" well. There were a couple of birds I chose and put back as they wouldnt settle in the show cage. I saw some dom pieds there that indicated I had better ones at home too. I considered taking Custard...but he wouldnt behave in the show cage. I may train him and take him along as he is very unusual colouring. Winston I would have taken as he "shows" well but he had lost a tailfeather. How good is that... I knew you had good looking birds, can't wait to see these????1st places .... YOU GO GIRL You know the funniest thing was...the clearwing that got best clearwing was a $20 bird I picked up at a bird shop just a few weeks ago.
May 18, 200718 yr Good one Kaz …Congratulations, I’m also looking forward to the pictures. Yes you should give Custard a go, from his pics looks like a nice bird to me. Also re Clearwing from pet shop, shows you must have a good eye for good birds, I also don’t worry where I see a bird that looks good or exceptional to me, pet shop or elsewhere I grab it & take the chance.
May 19, 200718 yr Author Well done Kaz... You'll have a bigger day tomorrow. Yes, I will be there, but cannot put any birds up as I havent been breeding long enough to have them ready, right age, with my legbands...there's next year
