Thinking Out Loud...

Hello everyone :)

In a few weeks/months, i was thinking of putting up my Oscar and Lilly :) Oscar is a cobalt spangle split to cinnamon, recessive pied, and opaline. Lilly is a dilute yellow face blue type II recessive pied. She just turned 12 months old, but Oscar just had 2 clutches with Ariel so i want to give him a rest, and wait until he is done moulting :) So im thinking 4-8 weeks time possibly... but it depends on the birds, and i don't want to rush. Plus i want to wait until our house sells (just went on the market last week, had an agents open house today, so within the next few days we will get a loit of interest... as the price is great, house is new and awesome, and it's in a quiet country part of town. So i think it will sell fast :D ).

Anyways, What coloured babies could i get with this pair? I am thinking:

-blue normals

-yellow face blue normals

-white recessive pieds

-yellow face recessive pieds

-blue spangles

-yellow face blue spangles ( :D )

-yellow face blue recessive spangle pieds (:D I'd end up keeping one... if i don't get any yellow face recessive pied opaline spangles :D )

-blue opaline females (from dads split)

-whiteface blue opaline spangles (females)

-yellow face blue opaline spangles (females)

-white face recessive pied opaline spangles (females)

-yellow face recessive pied opaline spangles (If i don't get or keep a yellow face blue recessive spangle pied I'll keep one of these ;) females).

So... as you can see there is MANY cobinations that are SUPER DUPER stunning!!!! I guess what i am asking is to double check if i got the baby mutations correct, if i missed any, and/or any other things you'd like to express. Whether it is pictures of babies of the fallowing colours so i can get an idea *wink wink* ((Laughing out loud)) or what have you...

Thanks a bunch guys,

Nathan. :)

Hi Nathan,I can't help you with mutations.I agree you should wait till you move so as not to disturb the birds if they have layed eggs etc.

Sounds like Oscar has been a busy boy!!!!

haha he suuuuure has! He wants a 3rd clutch with Ariel.. Well no, he doesn't want. THEY want and they have 3 eggs :) I had to take them away. Then i caught him and Lilly trying to mate throught he bars of the cage :) (Laughing out loud)

Yes, much more peace and quiet, also no new people that may scare them off the nest or babies... Thanks for comment ;)

Nathan.

You are pretty close to the mark Nathan. You will get 8 different varietys in the nest.

good luck!

i put the mutation in that gentic calculator, here you go

1.0 means male, 0.1 female i dont know why.Oh and (Dan) just means the regular recessive pied or something.

25.0% 1.0 green (Dan)rec.pied /bl.yellowface dilute cinnamon-opaline

25.0% 1.0 green spangle(sf) (Dan)rec.pied /bl.yellowface dilute cinnamon-opaline

25.0% 1.0 green (Dan)rec.pied /bl.yellowface dilute opaline

25.0% 1.0 green spangle(sf) (Dan)rec.pied /bl.yellowface dilute opaline

% from all 0.1

25.0% 0.1 green opaline (Dan)rec.pied /bl.yellowface dilute

25.0% 0.1 green opaline spangle(sf) (Dan)rec.pied /bl.yellowface dilute

25.0% 0.1 green cinnamon opaline (Dan)rec.pied /bl.yellowface dilute

25.0% 0.1 green cinnamon opaline spangle(sf) (Dan)rec.pied /bl.yellowface dilute

This is what I got... :D

Mother: YF2 Dilute Skyblue Recessive Pied <- I assumed Lilly is Skyblue for these equations

Father: Cobalt Spangle / To Recessive Pied, Cinnamon, and Opaline

male offspring:

6.25% Cobalt Spangle

6.25% YF2 Cobalt Spangle

6.25% Cobalt

6.25% YF2 Cobalt

6.25% Skyblue Spangle

6.25% YF2 Skyblue Spangle

6.25% Skyblue

6.25% YF2 Skyblue

6.25% Cobalt Recessive Pied Spangle

6.25% YF2 Cobalt Recessive Pied Spangle

6.25% Cobalt Recessive Pied

6.25% YF2 Cobalt Recessive Pied

6.25% Skyblue Recessive Pied Spangle

6.25% YF2 Skyblue Recessive Pied Spangle

6.25% Skyblue Recessive Pied

6.25% YF2 Skyblue Recessive Pied

All males may also be / Reccessive Pied, Dilute, Cinnamon and/or Opaline.

female offspring:

3.125% Cobalt Spangle Cinnamon Opaline

3.125% Cobalt Spangle

3.125% Cobalt Cinnamon Opaline

3.125% Cobalt

3.125% YF2 Cobalt Spangle Cinnamon Opaline

3.125% YF2 Cobalt Spangle

3.125% YF2 Cobalt Cinnamon Opaline

3.125% YF2 Cobalt

3.125% Skyblue Spangle Cinnamon Opaline

3.125% Skyblue Spangle

3.125% YF2 Skyblue Cinnamon Opaline

3.125% YF2 Skyblue

3.125% Cobalt Recessive Pied Spangle Cinnamon Opaline

3.125% Cobalt Recessive Pied Spangle

3.125% Cobalt Recessive Pied Cinnamon Opaline

3.125% Cobalt Recessive Pied

3.125% YF2 Cobalt Recessive Pied Spangle Cinnamon Opaline

3.125% YF2 Cobalt Recessive Pied Spangle

3.125% YF2 Cobalt Recessive Pied Cinnamon Opaline

3.125% YF2 Cobalt Recessive Pied

3.125% Skyblue Recessive Pied Spangle Cinnamon Opaline

3.125% Skyblue Recessive Pied Spangle

3.125% Skyblue Recessive Pied Cinnamon Opaline

3.125% Skyblue Recessive Pied

3.125% YF2 Skyblue Recessive Pied Spangle Cinnamon Opaline

3.125% YF2 Skyblue Recessive Pied Spangle

3.125% YF2 Skyblue Recessive Pied Cinnamon Opaline

3.125% YF2 Skyblue Recessive Pied

All the females will also be split to Dilute. Any non pieds will also be split to Recessive Pied.

This was done assuming Dad carries the Cinnamon and Opaline gene on the same X chromosome. If he doesn't you will get trice the variation in the hens, with both cinnamon and opaline showing up individually. From the posts I could find, his babies showing opaline are also cinnamon so this correlates the assumption. So thats why cinnamon and opaline are only showing together.

I think I got them right... Its pretty late here
