New Chicks

I have my first chicks from show type recessive pied parents. The recessive pied cock FRANNA and his split to recessive pied hen JENNI :budgiedance: have 6 chicks so far and one more egg left to hatch ( maybe ) . They are also fostering another chick.

Here is FRANNA aged 2 years armstrongbirds096-1.jpg

Babies are doing well. Photos soon.

Here is one of Frannas 6 month old grandsons. This is the type of chick I am hoping for.

Kaz I need to see the wings. Franna has too much markings does the chick have less?

Hi Kaz. How long does it take for the barring on the head to disappear before you see if they have inherited the flecking that Franna has? I'm only new to the breeding side and still learning! I also can't remember with my pet bird as he is about 5 now.

Who's wings Daz ? Frannas or the chick. That chick is Garys and is on the last page of his website. I have seen the results of the last pairing from Franna also and they were good....no heavy wing markings like Franna has.

I dont actually know the answer to your question about the barring. Sorry. :budgiedance:

Woot look at her fuzz (matches well with mine :budgiedance: ) Both look great, I take it 'JENNI' is split recessive. or are you not after recessive at this point.

The normal length of time for baby bard to moult out is 3-5 months. I'm not sure if the flecking shows up straight away or not. I have a feeling Reepicheep, a hen of mine had a clear cap but now has some flecking but I would have to re-check old pictures.

Look forward to seeing the babies Kaz :budgiedance:
