Does Anybody Know What Colour Mutations These Are?

The first one is white with almost like grey dots on the wings an violet showing through the tail and underside and above the legs. Rest is white.

The second is Grey with violet / mauve showing through in more or less the same places.

Would I be right in saying the white one is a recessive pied? :)

It could be a double factor pied too? I personally would wait until they feather up more. What where the parents? If you could post them that would be wonderful.

Hi Elly

Thanks for your reply

Cock is visual violet and hen is mauve opaline

What other mutation is the cock? normal, dominent pied? etc...

He's just a normal visual violet.

So he looks like my Merlin in my siggy? He is actually a dominant pied because he has a spot on the back of his head but he looks like a normal violet in the pics.

The mom has no other mutations just opaline yes?

Yep, here is a photo of Dad - he has no other spots or anything - definately a normal.

I don't have a photo of Mum but I'm pretty sure she's opaline mauve.

Then if neither one of the parents are dominant pieds I would agree that the first one is a recessive pied so you can mark in your notes that both parents are split for the recessive pied gene.

He is a gorgeous boy

Thanks Elly. Does that mean I don't have a chance of getting visual violets (like Dad) from this pair?

Wonder how the grey ones will turn out? I can't wait to see how they feather.

The grey one we will have to see how it feathers up. If a grey it most likely is a greywing which means both the parents carry the greywing gene because it is recessive too.

If these are the only 2 babies you had the recessive genes pop out in both cases. It is amazing you didn't get a normal like the dad .
