Posted May 8, 200718 yr hi everyone, i have bred this budgie myself and have always wondered what type of budgie it is because to me it seems like a more unique colour and im not 100% positive about budgie types yet so i was hoping someone here could give me a hand. the bird has a sky blue belly and white wings with light grey markings on it and the tip of the tail and tips of the wings are white also in the photo the eyes seem to be abit red but they are actually pure black http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z4/lozz...hoto/Budgie.jpg thanks for any help you can give me Moderator’s Message to user Image changed to a link due to size. May 8, 200718 yr She looks to be a full body grey wing recessive pied is her blue bright between her legs? if not then a greywing recessive pied and I say recessive since you said you can see the red in her eyes that is from the recessive pied gene .
May 8, 200718 yr To me she looks spangle recessive sky blue. The markings on the wings don't look grey to me or the throat spots. They look black.
May 9, 200718 yr Author so basically if those markings on her wings are dark she is a spangle and if they are light she is a grey wing?
May 9, 200718 yr the spangle gene makes the black markings on the wings into fine lines on the edges. (if you look at my sig it looks something like that) Greywings have grey markings on the wings and the throat spots. Most people new to genetics tend to mix these genes up.
May 10, 200718 yr If you click here you can see the different mutations and see visually what Nerwen is saying about the spangle, greywing etc.. Different Mutations
May 10, 200718 yr Author thanks for all the help guys, that link should be a good guide for me in the future
