She is just being a good mummy, protecting her beautiful little ones :P You'd think Milly and Zues would wait till these ones have feathers!

That's a great photo of the young family, Dave.

If Dad is only a Single Factor yellowface you can get 50% of YF and White faces. Yellow on the wings is a sign of a yellowface (since both birds are blue)

Yeah, you should be able to see some colour on the pin feathers on the wings. It is possible to have both yellow and white faces, my yf cock and olive pied hen had one white face in their last clutch and a yf pied :D

It is hard to get photos of these guys as they are in the top cage and I need to climb up a ladder to look in. All is going well, but Milly refuses to leave, let alone let me grab a bub out - (Laughing out loud).

Here are some new shots. As you can see, i think that they are all going to look like their mother.

Mum is cinnamon, but the chicks arent...at least the two I can see anyway. But the two I can see appear to be blue series :)

both parents are blue so that is all you will ever have with these 2 is a blue based bird :D to get any greens you would need to pair with a green bird. The dark factors will come into play and determine sky blue, cobalt or mauve.

Beautiful babies :D, they are feathering up wonderfully

gotcha that is interesting that none are yf's :D

Hi Dave, yellow face is a dominant trait, but as only one parent carries it only 50% of their bubs will inherit yellow face. Maybe this is the non YF 50% and their next round may be the yellow face half :hap:

Cleaning out the birds today, that is the aviary, the breeding cages and the breeding boxes. I decided to take some pics. This is the first time I have had these little ones out of the nest box. I have to say they sure are curiousa curious lot. It was hard keeping them in the container they were sitting in.

As you can see, their blue is starting to come through. I am not sure if you can tell by looking at that last shot, but it seems that although they are all blues, there might be some degree of colour variation in their brightness. There appears to be some blue appearing in the wings, and they are definitely not opalines, and the middle one may in fact be more like their mother than we first thought. She is a cinnamon wing, but very slight. Not strong at all, to the extent that in some pics, it does not even look like it. That is why her colour is slightly diffused(in real life, not in pics). Look at the wings of the middle baby in the 2nd picture, and compare it to the wings of the baby on its right. Definitley some difference there.

So far it looks like you have a blue like Mum and a blue like Dad. I dont see cinnamon though. Cinnamon wings, even in a baby budgie appears a definite brown.

They look lovely. You have a skyblue and cobalt in there. They look well fed too :P

hey a quick tip add one of your cute cute pics...to Budgie of the Month for June :bluebudgie:

okay, will do Elly.

By The Way, I was topping up some seed today and there was a lot of noise coming form one cage - as I looked in there i saw why. One little one had decided to explore the bottom of the cage by jumping from the nest box. I picked the little one up and returned it, after which Daddy scurried into the nest box to have a stern chat with the little one - (Laughing out loud).

Well, twice now I have had to put one little one back into a nest box. I am thinking of a name that will suit this little one, based upon this. I remember Kaz used Kamikaze once, and the poor little fellow passed away. Out of respect I am avoiding that, but I am thinking Bungee or something like that. Not sure. Any ideas would be good.

Just noticed today that the youngest one has yellow face feathers, so we in this nest box we have 1 sky blue, one cobalt blue, and one yellow faced blue. They are all very cute!!
