June 5, 200718 yr Dave, they are all looking absolutely wonderful, and not a splayed leg in sight. I am sure you would be able to tell if there will a splayed leg in there. You still managed to get a little pink bum in the photo for me, thanks for that As for handling the bubs, I have been handling mine from the day they were born. Not being brilliantly mobile I can't always get a good look in the nest boxes. A couple of the high nests I actually have to take a photo by holding the camera over my head to see what is happening in the nest. Feathers.
June 5, 200718 yr Yeah they all look healthy Dave, occasionally you will see a leg sticking out sideways, when they are young as they don’t have such good control over them, but if they have splayed legs you will notice one leg sticking out each side. This will occur in the first week, if you have a concave or make sure you have plenty of material in the nest box so the legs can get a grip, you wont have any problems.
June 6, 200718 yr Author Thanks everyone for the kind words. Feathers - I think the little guy is getting a complex about his little pink bum sticking out, as he was doing his best to hide it today - (Laughing out loud). Norm - there is a concave in the nest box and there is plenty of bedding material. Here are some new photos form today.

June 6, 200718 yr Author I had not even thought about gender yet - still too excited about colours - (Laughing out loud).
June 10, 200718 yr Author Big clean out day, so new pics for all birds. All are coming along nicely. I was a little concerned about the youngest, but he is being few well and is growing rapidly. Feathers - a few good bum shots to keep you happy - (Laughing out loud). Last 2 shots are of opaline little girl. She even posed in the last one on her own to give us a view of her wings. Model material there, for sure. Just looking at those pics again, do opalines not have the normal looking tail to non-opalines? Well, the last 2 pics indicate she does not. there is no blue visible at all. If she came from a pair of blues i would wonder what was going on, but when you remember her mother is a fallow, might she be something else?
June 10, 200718 yr Author And yet when you compare it to the others in the nest, it is very different.

Mine are nearing that stage :ausb: Great photos again, Dave. And I think you were right about the little one getting a complex about bum shots, in these photos he looked like he was trying to squeeze in and under the rest again Feathers.
June 10, 200718 yr They're so cute!!!! I can't wait for mine to come :) I really like the shots with the little tails sticking out. So pretty!
June 12, 200718 yr Author The are really starting to colour up now. The little girl looks amazing. i took her out and looked at her tonight. I am not sure about the opaline, however she is definitely a cinnamon wing. Her blue is diluted a great deal. She is going to be a very pretty bird. I will get some pics soon.
June 13, 200718 yr Author okay, Some quick shots. You can see her cinnamon wings and her dilute colour. I love the colour, and when you compare her to her kin, she is defintely very different.
June 13, 200718 yr WOW she is a cute one, cinnamon and Opaline, blue on the wings instead of white) Is the youngest a pale one as well?
June 14, 200718 yr Author it is a little hard to tell the colouring on the youngest one at the moment, but I am hoping it is also a pale one
June 16, 200718 yr Author The youngest looks to have black pin feathers coming through on the wings, so I say that he/she is going to be like the vast majority of her older siblings - -blue with black wings.
June 17, 200718 yr Author okay, i took some new photos. they are getting very squirmy, so it is hard to get them together for a photo. I had to change the "dish" they sat in to an ice cream container, to stop them jumping out and running away. Even then one managed to escape. okay, here we go. Group shots first. You lead, we will follow. Get out of my way!!! Notice the littlest one gets pushed over by the rush here? Ohhh, photo opportunity!! Now, which is my good side? If I can just get away, I can take over the world... When am I going to get feathers? (hard to tell, but I think will be a standard blue) there you go. thinking of names - bungee for the jumper might stick yet, but still thinking of other names.
June 17, 200718 yr Hi Dave, Mine bubs are turning into uncooperative wriggly things too They really do all like to pile up together, don't they. The chick in the second last photo is absolutely gorgeous. Feathers.
