Telling The Sex Of A Baby Budgie

Featured Replies

I am wondering if any of you experts can tell the sex of baby by the movement, reaction etc...

It would be helpful if you are able to tell me then I can sex my baby budgies :(

I have found hens tend to be the hisser's, males are quieter. A week old is very young though... it may be very difficult to tell.

I don't try until they are 3 weeks old. Some you can tell younger some older... some never.

What are the signs indicating what sex they when they are 3 weeks though

The ceres are starting to get the pale/blue/white rings for hens and go darker pink for the males.

The cere of a hen will have nosstral rings and start to roughen slightly. A cock will be a soild colour and be smooth. Some varieties like Recessives and inos are dificult. I had a resessive that was 12 months old and still couldn't work it out.
