Juniors Mutations?

Featured Replies

Looking for a little help. I know Junior is a he (at least so far) and has skyblue recessive pied genes, but I am confused about what else. Would the fact that he is mostly without markings and that his face has none have a bearing on what genes he is carrying? Perhaps some ino? His eyes sometimes have a redish sorta haze to me, but they are black so I cant tell if I am just being strange or it is how the light catches them sometimes.

What do you guys think?

Ino is when a bird has red eyes and they are all white, lutino is when they have red eyes and their bodies are all yellow. You can not tell if a male bird is carrying the ino gene. Females must express the gene because they can not mask any sex linked genes.

He is simply a sky blue recessive pied just like my Pretty in my siggy. The pied gene is responsible for deciding how many splotches here and there he will have it has nothing to do with any other genes :D.

Yep, skyblue recessive pied, I agree with Elly. The reason his eyes look red, is because they are. Recessive pieds have dark plum coloured eyes which would have a red glint in the right light.

Feathers.

If you mate a recessive pied - would that mean because he is recessive that any babies would take on the genes of the other parent exclusively?

2 recessive pieds would give you 100% recessive pieds

unless there is any sex linked genes that the male is split then he would give this to his hens.
