April 19, 200718 yr Author I would say worm. Its tapered at both ends and no budgie I know does poops like that one What worming solution do you use Kaz? I'm using Avian Science Worm Aid... you give it in their water for 24 hours....then 14 days repeat the same dosage. Are worms hard to get rid even with the worming agent. This is the first time any birds that I have owned has had worms. It is disappointing to say the least.

If a bird is visually affected I deliver the dose by crop needle straight into the crop. You see the difference in the bird the next day. I also treat the whole aviary once a month with drinkable ivermectin in the water. Any bird that has come from a soil floor aviary or has had an open aviary that allows wild bird droppings to get in WILL have worms. Worms work on a cycle, so a repetitive treatment is best. If you have an inside budgie only once or twice initially is all you seem to need. Edited April 19, 200718 yr by Kaz

Where do you buy the ivermectin from the stuff I've got is from the pet shop and it doesn't mention dosing the bird straight up maybe I need what your got.
April 19, 200718 yr Hi Paul, I use vetafarms 'wormout gel'. I know that vetafarm products are available at a lot of pet stores. I know that it works as during my birds recent treatment I checked the poops on the aviary floor and saw that I had a few small curly ones amongst the normal ones. The noise in the aviary also increased after treatment. Feathers.
April 19, 200718 yr If you want an on going remody, use Aloe Vera.. It is a good all rounder.. But paul I would start on the worm gel. I use that as well.
April 20, 200718 yr I'm using Avian Science Worm Aid... you give it in their water for 24 hours....then 14 days repeat the same dosage. That's the stuff i use too. I've never had any problems using it.

April 21, 200718 yr Um, I went in for a wing clip ( *slap!* )> It was $40 for the visit, clip and drops. The clip was quoted to cost $15, but at the visit, he spotted mites! A little extra, and I am more than happy! Not sure if other vets would charge extra..? The drops aren't too hard to get in - as long as you have their head 'secure' in your closed hand. They don't like the taste too much though methinks! eep! But it works! Good luck!
April 21, 200718 yr Paul, dont you have the ivermectin spot on treatment already ? If so, its the same thing. But I also treat for worms separately.
