Breathing question

Featured Replies

Since we've hard Merlin at home, he's been fairly puffed up, and at times when he's been breathing, we have seen his tail bobbing, sometimes it seems to be quite excessive. i havent thought too much about it though. Mum is concerned there could be a problem with him, or cam the tail bobbing and hard breathing be caused by stress? He pretty much left his mum, and then the next day he was at home with me, so it's fairly stressful for him. Any advice would be great, and he'll be going to the vet on monday for a check up to be safe.

Thanks guys!

hmm never mind, seems to be all good today...

lo budgie _babe

a puffed up budgie is a sure sign that something is not well.

Also, the tail should be still on a perched budgie, which is also a problem.

i would feed the bugie some pure yoghurt on top of his seed, and cut out anything else from his diet (like greens).

Most shops do great supplements, that will give ur budgie nutrients.

I am sorry to say that i had a budgie who had these symptoms and died. If it is still not well i wouldnt touch it becase the it will "stress" the budgie out.

The vet will give u some magical powder that drains the budgie of all bacteria, but that could be even worse if not given properly.

Good luck

Thanks, he's fine now.... vet says it was just the stress of the new home and settling in.

Budgie Babe,

That must be a relief! I had the same problem with Ganda... also she was too fat and thus could not fly properly. After putting her on a strict diet and daily flying exercises her breathing and flying are both much much better.

She has some loose stool which she has had since I got her. I think she must have some liver disfunction due to being over weight and if we keep getting the weight down this may clear up. I hope so anyway.

Keep us informed!

Chris
