Posted April 11, 200718 yr Star and Wylie's babies have all been spoken for. Their new owners are anxiously awaiting them. How old should they be before they leave Wylie. The oldest is 39 days. I don't want them to go until they are absolutely ready, but I also know that the sooner they are with their new owners the more they will likely bond.
April 11, 200718 yr The chicks leave the box (fledge) between 4 and 5 weeks of age. However, they should not be removed from their parents until they can crack seeds competently on their own. This is usually at about 6 weeks of age. 6 weeks is not always the exact age, more a guideline. Some chicks may be able to eat on their own before then and some may take a little longer. April 12, 200718 yr I would suggest 6 weeks. I like my babies to be eating well and in full flight when they leave. It takes a baby a little time to pick up some body weight once they start eating on their own, .....a new home and new food can sometimes make them "depressed" and they can stop eating.
