Posted April 7, 200718 yr My pair of budgies have turned about 12 months, and my female is coming into breeding condition. I have been doing research about breeding budgies for maybe 2 years now. And now that my pair is coming into breeding condition, I feel like I forgot all of it haha. Well not really, but Ive just got really excited. I believe I have everything I need, and I will be picking up some hand feeding materials, just incase something goes wrong. But what is a general check list of the things I should have?

You will need the budgie to stay in breeding condition, a nest box to incourage mating and to lay egg, cuttle bone mineral block a fairly size cage and tight perches that don't move around and in one month they should be mating if they are realy bonded to each other and ready I hope this helps you and I see you have 3 budgies and make sure that the other one is in a differebt cage than the pair Edited April 7, 200718 yr by Lankan
April 8, 200718 yr You have done all your research and all is in place, good luck to you! :ausb: As well, since it is the Easter Weekend, a lot of the breeders are not online so wait a few days and they will reappear!
April 8, 200718 yr There are a few Pinned topics in the Breeders section on here.... There maybe something that triggers your memory..... Or you could search the subject .... Good Luck
April 8, 200718 yr The following: *Cage that's big enough *Cuttlebone for calcium *Fresh Seed,Water and vegetables daily *Breeding/Nest Box *Secure perches wood/natural sticks * and last but certainly very important someone to monitor them.
April 8, 200718 yr Having experienced what I am about to tell you myself......cuttlebone isnt always the best way to get calcium into a breeding pair of birds. A soluble calcium supplement to the water BEFORE egglaying is a really good idea, as a cuttlebone is often LESS a source of calcium as it is "something to play with and nibble on" Other things seem to have been covered already. :ausb:
April 8, 200718 yr A great way to search out information too about breeding or other topics is to click on the FAQ link at the topic of your screen. http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/faqs/ another window will pop up and on the side you will find different titles to where you will find other questions about that topic . Example Budgerigar Breeding will lead you to http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/faqs/i...tion=show&cat=7. Of course if you can't find an answer we have our awesome members. 2 great ways to find information OH and another one is to so a search within the breeding section too for your specific question. It is amazing what you can find at your finger tips at BBC. Good luck with your breeding program, we look forward to following the journey with you.
