Posted April 5, 200718 yr I take mine to bed at 8.30. He is never tired then because he is used to it. Except now because of the normal time instead of daylight savings.
April 5, 200718 yr My boys go to bed between 10-11pm when i go to bed. The tiels go to bed earlier than that cause they get grouchy otherwise. If the budgies started getting grouchy, i'd put them to bed earlier.
April 5, 200718 yr I cover mine at about 8:30 to 9 pm. If I wake up early in the morning then I cover them at about 8, so they get enought sleep.
April 5, 200718 yr Chucky and Stubby go to bed about 9-10 most nights but they get to stay up later on weekends :ausb: Chloe the tiel needs to go to bed about 8pm or she gets soooooo grumpy.
April 5, 200718 yr What is most important is that they can have a good solid 10-12 hours of darkness because they need their sleep plus they can get hormonal with too much light. Saying that mine go to sleep at 7:30pm and that is because it was getting dark sooner because of the winter and they were ready they jump on the perch and would start telling me off and I uncover them just around 7-8AM depends if the kids are up or not. I didn't want them to wake them up.
April 5, 200718 yr My budgies get the roller blinds dropped down on the front of the aviary around 6pm. The birds in the bird room have their lights on in there until 7:30pm so they can budgie bonk, or settle babies off to sleep and so on. All of them wake around 5:30-6ish and I pull the blinds up around 7am. The bird room has lights that come on automatically around 7am and stay on until 9am. If they are making too much noise when its bedtime, I tell them to be quiet...its time to sleep and they are then quiet and settle down for the night.
April 5, 200718 yr what good budgies Kaz - It's amazing what a loud SSSHH !! will do and reminding the naughty things that its bedtime
April 5, 200718 yr I'm a night owl so we are on a weird schedule (Laughing out loud). I ususally don't go to bed until around 3 AM and wake up around noon. I try to get them covered by 1 AM at the latest, but they don't really go to sleep until I do. Bella still isn't quite on my schedule yet, so she'll go to sleep earlier, but Scooter would stay up all night if I let him (Laughing out loud).
April 5, 200718 yr my birds live in the lounge room where their cages are they go to sleep usually when my mums finished out their usually about 9-12.
April 6, 200718 yr I have been putting Cosmo to bed by 8pm (absolute max), and uncovering him at about 8.30am. He sort of puts himself to sleep, and sometimes seems that he doesn't want to be woken up! haha!

He sort of puts himself to sleep, and sometimes seems that he doesn't want to be woken up! haha! :budgiedance: For that I uncover just the front of the cage for about 1 hour in the morning and then once they are awake take off the cover completely. It helps them wake up on their own

April 9, 200718 yr Author WOW every body takes their budgies to bed late. When its cold (like now) my budgie goes under a very thick blanket. But in summer he has a cool blanket. He still hears the t.v and gets good light under the cool blanket so he chirps lots. And he gets to spend alone time with his mirror if you know what I mean. And if i do no put the blanket on right he does a chirp to tell me to put it on properly! :oliveb:
