Posted April 2, 200718 yr Hi all.... I just found out that my 2 new budgies may have been breed from a show breeder.. So my New questions for today is. What do you do?... :hap: Are their feeds different, is there special requirements for them, do they need extra attention.....
April 2, 200718 yr not really you take care of them just the same :hap: they are budgies just at the pet ones are . My Merlin the blue one is considered a show budgie aka English but he is my English pet budgie . If you are consider showing them you can join a budgie club and start there and learn but the needs are the same they need their seed, pellets, veggies, fruits, vitamins etc... Great question and I am sure others will jump in that show.
April 2, 200718 yr A normal varied diet as with most budgies. It is only when you get into showing and breeding for show they you would look at more dietary issues. More seed varieites available to the bird, softfoods, additives such as iodine, breeding aid, moulting aid etc. The idea being to improve a birds "feather" for show and overall to improve their health and longevity. A show breeder is breeding for the future and aims for every baby budgie that comes out of the nest to be BETTER than its parents. :hap:

April 3, 200718 yr Glad to see your post. If your interested in joining a Budgerigar Club there is a Budgerigar Society of NSW Club at Campbelltown, Beverley Park SSP School, 100 Berverley Rd, Campbelltown and they meet on the 1st Friday of each month at 8.00pm. If you want more information on BSNSW try www.budgerigar.com.au Even if your not into showing birds yet, the clubs are a great source of information, help and anything else you may need to know. Usually have a great group of people too. You may also keep an eye out for budgie shows in the area and also bird sales as these are held by the clubs and you get to see some wonderful birds and an idea of what is required for showing. Best of luck Laura
