We can't find any creams or sprays yet for scaly face.We think that our budgie has scaly face.

Please can you suggest any home-made creams that I can make to apply to her cere.

I see you read Bea's post you will need to go to the avian vet to purchase the cream or medication. Your bird should to exam before treated if you are unsure.

A well known show breeder I know just gets some dettol and rubs it into the beak area. It works.

He used it neat. No dilution. But you can use it half and half with baby oil. Take care not to get any into the nostrils.

Well I saw plain baby oil used and it worked. The bird had it on the cere and the legs. Enough to cause the swelling on the leg with the ring. A top breed was with me and asked what I used. I was using Scaly Face from Arstopet.

 

He showed me what to do with the baby oil. Just massage it in and the scale come off. The birds has had two applications, that was three weeks ago and no sign of scaly face yet.

 

It has to be good quality baby oil not the home brand rubbish.
