As with anyone animal that is show you find that show pets are feed "better" quality food because it does promote excellent health, feather quality and more. Just as when I go to a dog show you find they are always feeding them this brand because etc...

You know what I mean right :). I know I am here in the US and you overseas and everything that you have may not be available here but I am interested what diet do you find top show breeders feeding their budgies?

I am sure it is not just one thing but a general idea. Appreciate you responding :)

Elly you are right, the seed is of the best quality and the mix has to be right. The mix is made up of canary and different millets. The ratios is always a discussion point with breeders. Then there are the additives that you give the birds and the soft foods and vegitables. All are different from one breeder to another. Every breeder has a reason for what he feeds and it's always the best :oliveb:

a lot of breeders mix there own quality seed this works on two fronts

1. the breeder knows what is in the mix and to what ratio#

2.in the uk you dont pay vat on single seeds but you do on mixs so it works out a lot cheaper

then you have the major seed makers the biggest two will be bucktons (sponsers of the budgie society)and johnsons and jeffs bucktons have some where near 20 different mixs to buy from simple 50/50 to champion blend ect

as for extras i would say soaked groats are a pretty popular extra then the usuall veg with probably carrot being a fav + boiled egg

then you go into vitamens and suppliments which you could go on and on
