Posted March 21, 200718 yr I went to my first Metropolitan Budgie Club meeting tonight, and put 4 birds on the show bench. All 4 were 1st in their class. This Olive Spangle won best Novice in show as well as 1st in it's class: This Normal Grey also won a special award for a Novice Class Normal Grey and 1st in it's class: This young Normal Green won 1st in it's class, the one under it is an adult Normal Green that belongs to Bubbles, it won in the adult class: And the DF Spangle (yellow) that I put in on Sunday won 1st in it's class again. It feels a bit wrong to be getting points for birds I have not bred, but it is a good indication that I am on the right track with the birds I am buying. I also got some great experience in de-spotting this time around. I did the de-spotting over the last 3 days so that I didn't disturb their mask to much, and it also gave me the time to sit back and re-assess each time. Feathers. March 21, 200718 yr Congratulations feathers !!! That's really good :offtopic: Edited March 21, 200718 yr by Zebra
March 21, 200718 yr Feathers' spangle hen is a stunner :offtopic: She deserved the prize, if only for recognising a good bird when she purchased it. Also, there is a lot to be said for the preparation of a bird for show, which Feathers has done. Seeking out and purchasing our first breeding stock birds is how we learn what to look for in a showbird. Later on we can breed our own and will learn now what to recognize when we see our chicks develop. Its all part of the journey. Education and building up a stud of breeder birds. Tonight I got two firsts and a second...The firsts with my green cockbird, and a beautiful blue normal boy...and the second was my normal grey. Its a lot of fun and a lot of learning ......all good. :dbb1:
