Posted November 24, 200420 yr Im new to this site but have been breeding budgies for years... I noticed that all the time when the budgies hatch and get a few weeks old they have piles of **** on their feet and its hard to remove and very time consuming.. Yea i dont go cleaning the box until they leave it so i guess i should starting cleaning it more often... also i didnt know ppl put sawdust in nesting boxes.. I might have to try that in the future... Also does anybody have or had 2 hens (sisters) mating with the same **** and laying eggs in the same nest box and both laying on the eggs at the same time... First time it happened to me so i guess im gonna leave them.. only problem is i have 9 eggs in the next box... :/ Anyway hello to all u guys here and i should be able to start uploading pictures of my birds to show all of u Cheers Dean P.S i dont know how u guys can keep track of all these names.. none of my budgies have names

November 30, 200420 yr Hi belco, and welcome to the forums. Your birds look nice - how many to you typically have at a time? Do your budgies torment the cockatiel? I never had a problem with feces getting stuck to the babies feet...the feces always dried quickly and weren't that wet until the birds were almost ready to leave the nest box. I think more frequent cleaning would be advised for next time. That should help.
December 1, 200420 yr hiya, your birds are gorgeous. do you breed both budgies and cockatiels??? i was wondering if cockatiels are easier to breed than budgies or not. i have just had my first clutch from my budgies but i have yet to have success with my cockatiels... they just arent interested..... i was wondering if you have any advice???
December 2, 200420 yr any advice?? i have 4 budgies in one large cage.... i have 1 pair that have recently started laying but the other two dont seem ready yet to start mating. if they start mating soon though should i remove them or should i just add another nesting box. i dont want them to start fighting over the box but as is ay i am watching them very closely and so far they dont seem interested in mating.
December 7, 200420 yr Hey there i got 2 cockatiels but they dont breed... i had one for a few years and bought another last year so its got a friend :bluebudgie: but they are not interested in each other... My male cockatiels is more interested in inspecting all the budgies in the box and as soon as the babies come out he feeds them... very wierd takes abit of feeding pressure off the mum n dad :bluebudgie:
