Posted March 15, 200718 yr I just put this pair into the breeding cabinet, the hen an Opaline Violet [think she's old] but she has a least produced some eggs & two young with a young green cock, but they were green, as maybe the cock wasn't split for blue, so now I have another cock, this one she now is paired with. I bred him from a Grey Green normal cock [or maybe olive] split for Cinnamon, as he produced this cock. Paired with a Grey Cinnamon Opaline Hen. This young cock I think is a Mauve Cinnamon Opaline [he looks like sky blue in the picture]. I hope to get some violets, if she does the right thing. Do you think my chances are good of getting many violets, it's a dominant so I guess it should work. http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s133/gr...oiletmauve2.jpg

He is a Opaline Skyblue don't know about cinnamon (colour on my sceen it's not brown) could be grey wing. She could be violet. Now depending on what gene she is carring the violet fact will give different results. Here is the topic I did on the violet Gene. Edited March 16, 200718 yr by Daz
March 16, 200718 yr He's a skyblue cinnamon not a mauve. Check out Daz'z article on violets. Cheers kaz
March 16, 200718 yr Author The male is pretty -- I can see the cinnamon. How old is he? I don't remember exactly how old he is, as I didn't keep a record, but he's less than a year. I know he's looks like a sky blue in that picture, it must have been because of the flash, but he's definetly not sky blue.
March 16, 200718 yr I would think he is a cobalt rather than mauve, they are a really dark blue/grey colour. Sky blues with a flash tend to have a slight green tint to them where as this boy doesn't. Edited March 16, 200718 yr by Nerwen
March 16, 200718 yr Photographing blue series birds is such a pain. They never look quite right in photos.
March 17, 200718 yr Author Photographing blue series birds is such a pain. They never look quite right in photos. Yeah...he has what I would call a reddish blue look, I though it was probably Mauve.
