Yellow Face Type 1 & 2:

Featured Replies

Posted

I have some yellow faces, but I haven't heard of this type 1 or 2, until I joined this forum, can some one explain the difference to me thanks.

Type I is a normal yellowface. Type II usually the yellow bleeds into the body colour, it is also called a Parblue. If you have a Yellowface Blue then you will see green in the body colour for a type II. There is also a golden face which the yellow is more buttercup in colour.

Daz the two photos I've posted: The first one is the parents the second one are the babies.

Are the parents type11 Parblue yellow face and are the two babies type1 yellow face split to type11 parblue?

Paul the parents look like type II from the photo. Mum looks like a Spangle Opaline Greywing or Cinamon. Photo is a bit too small. The cock looks like a cobalt, I can see the green tinge. The chicks look like type I but one is a Opaline visual violet. That could mean the cock is a violet skyblue and split to opaline. You'll have to wait till the final moult around 8 months old.

Type 1 is where the yellow is only found on the head of the bird. Type 2 is when you get bleed through of the yellow into the body of the bird at each molt. Baby type 2 yellowface appear as type 1's but will get the mix of blue and green on the body as they grow.

Also some yelowface and goldenfaces can appear as a normal green, they way to check is to look under the wings, the patch of feathers on the body there will be blue not green.

Wow hows the difference in visual colour with Marine it changed so much.

Budgies go through two moults before they get their adult plumage. That is why you have to wait to see what they are going to be like.

Thanks guys for that insite...I think I have one or two type 1 & mostly type 11...but lots of my birds are young so maybe they will change later.

Thanks Nerwen...like you said in my other post, maybe some birds I think are green are actually genetically blue...I have a couple of birds like your Freckle, in Spangles, they are similar, but are much darker than Freckle, but in their case I knew they were yellow faced blues. I must look under some wings.

That's a good result Paul, from that pair, I especially like the Opaline chic on the left, looks such an intense colour to get from those parents, but like they say maybe some green will come into it when it gets adult plumage...anyway nice younguns.
