June 24, 200817 yr Looks great Kaz…are you sure your not moving in & putting the birds in the house? I have done a few tiling jobs myself, just takes a bit of time & care & I tell you I have had lots of so called “professional jobs” fall off, whereas it hasn’t ever happened to any of my jobs. They are too fast use too little adhesive…your birds should thank you.
June 25, 200817 yr Author Looks great Kaz…are you sure your not moving in & putting the birds in the house? There's room in there for a bed or two I told Ken he can live in there if he's "in the doghouse" PS only problem with that is...I can never get mad at Ken...he always makes me laugh
July 7, 200816 yr Author Any chance you can fly over and help me with my laundry tiling Kaz? Anytime, Dave :glare: *****UPDATE***** I am fitting the new birdroom out slowly. I have bought a section ( 2.2 Metres ) of kitchen benchtop and am about to fit the new laundry sink into it with a laundry cupboard underneath. That goes in the corner sort of. I bought another kitchen cupboard unit today and I am assembling it tonight to go on the far right near the doors.. I have some plastic pull out drawer units that I will put on wheels to tuck under the bench and when out it gives me room to sit there on a chair and work at the bench...computer input, legringing etc etc. The plastic drawers will hold all the food dishes and some supplies. I was trying to work out how to make up the doors for the end of the room going into the new flights ( yet to be done ) as I was going to buy steel box tube and make them up. Materials cost the earth. I was in Bunnings...my home away from home They had some really solid powdercoated steel screened security doors there in the same cream colour as my shed. The doors were $249 each and they marked them down to clear at $89 each. It was going to cost around that much in materials to make the doors. So I bought the security doors. Two to go at the right hand end of the birdroom into the flight areas. Two to attach inside the double entry doors. The inner doors at the entry means I can open the doors wide on hot days and let the hot air out and no bird escapes to worry about. I also bought all the lining boards for the inside walls of the birdroom. They had some great coated and slightly textured ( basketweave like ) thin ply......with pale grey glossy coating....2400 by 1200 for only $5 a sheet. So, I bought all I needed to line the birdroom with. I also bought a medical cabinet to put on the wall with all the birds meds and emergency supplies in. So, the next thing to do is fit the lining ply, fit the bench and cupboards and sink and hang the new doors. I also have to insulate the walls, but I may have to do that later unless a bargain comes up in batt insulation sometime soon. Amidst all this I am having to play catch up with leadlight work as I could not work while my daughter was recuperating here after spinal surgery. Kens Dad is in and out of hospital for tests and I have to get him to appointments, and Ken also is on holidays and he too is having tests at the doctors and hospital. Will post some more pictures this weekend of the new improvements. Also culled out forty birds over Saturday as the birds are in temporary aviaries until new flights are made and I needed to decrease numbers. Edited July 7, 200816 yr by KAZ
July 8, 200816 yr Can't wait for more pix Kaz....it all looks awesome...what a great tile job......how talented is that
July 8, 200816 yr Author Slight change of plan...the deep laundry sink I was going to use is too wide for the benchtop so I am fiiting a smaller one. Bought the special deeper jigsaw blades to cut the hole. Need to build leadlights for a few days first and the rest will fit into the gaps of time...if I have any gaps
July 10, 200816 yr Author Busy day today...I made three leadlights and also managed to put the "kitchen" workbench and cupboards area into the new birdroom. Nearly able to turn on a tap but bad rain spoilt the "plumber"s plans. Ken ( aka home plumber ) had to put it on hold till tomorrow. Good thing he is on a months holidays.
July 10, 200816 yr You did have a very busy day but it is good to hear that you got more work done. Hopefully Ken can get alot done while he is on holidays.

July 11, 200816 yr Author I am aiming for "easy to clean" Neat As bird owners are we not all aiming for this? Yes we are With the amount of mess birds make, a tile floor is going to be a PLUS for me
July 11, 200816 yr Author LOL Dave...Is there a drain in there too Kaz???I will have a drain outside the front door and before the flights, so can mop and push water into the drains.those batteries must take a long time to charge - LOL!!!!!I have been making leadlights to earn the $$$$'s for the birdroom modsslowly, slowly, catchee monkey :hap: More photos Sunday...not too much more done as it takes time and money Edited July 11, 200816 yr by KAZ
July 11, 200816 yr Author It is a shame that everything takes $$$$$$ life would be simpler without it :hap: Robbing banks might be a quicker way to acchieve things but I havent the time for robbing banks
July 12, 200816 yr Author Got paid for some leadlight work so I went out and blew the lot on the new birdroom. Bought insulation ( polyester batts ), some more steel for structural changes and supports, wall tiles for around the sink and benchtop area, wood to make a shelf under the window, and some joiner strips for the wall sheeting. We did some insulation and wall sheeting today and plumbed up the sink and moved the benchtop and cupboards into position. Some of the birds in holding cages were pairing up and bonking so I put at least two pairs into breeder cages and more to pair up tomorrow. Ken must be getting enthusiastic as he said we will start at 7 am tomorrow and finish off sheeting the bird room. Very cool. Photos tomorrow. Edited July 12, 200816 yr by KAZ
