August 21, 201014 yr Author Kaz is there removeable trays or not.Oh Kaz could you please take a picture from a distance for me so I can the cages each side because I am still trying to work out how it is a corner cabinet, now don't go crook at me as I am blonde I havent pushed the other cabinets up to it properly yet.....but I will take more photos tomorrow and I will try and do a diagram too :hmm: PS No removable trays. I use newspaper in the bottom of all my cabinets anyway, but that corner one isnt able to have trays due to the odd shape. These photos were taken before my Saturday main clean so some of the cages still need cleaning today BUT Here is how the cabinets look going around the corner. Left Corner Right What I did was, I have vertical units going around all the walls. Corners were a pain in the A$$ because there was wasted space. I like to maximise space whereever possible. So I worked out the measurement from the last vertical unit into the corner, and then did the same along the other wall to work out exactly what angle I needed to cut the corner cabinets to fit in there with maximum cagefront space, Then allowed extra for the nestboxes to attach to the side. Now I have a snug fit all around the walls of the cabinets and still they can be pulled forward on their wheels to be cleaned under neath and behind. Being as the vertical units are on wheels I can move them anywhere in the birdroom with no disturbance to the birds. They dont mind being wheeled about at all. I can pull cabinet units out and vacuum and mop the floors. PS have to redo some of the vertical cabinets as Ken put the backing on some units before he squared them up so they dont stand vertical and level upright. I have to take the backs off those units, square them up and then put the backs on again so they stand straighter. My husband isnt good with woodwork, or anything straight level or square. Thats why I do it all. Edited August 21, 201014 yr by KAZ
January 19, 201114 yr Author Well............after making everything perfect for me and the budgies I now have to start all over again as we are moving. We cant take the aviaries and birdroom with us. I have currently got three aviaries that will have to be erected by end of January to house my budgies until I can redo everything all over again further down the track.
January 19, 201114 yr Good luck with it all Kaz, At least you have the garage to breed in. Did you have to do a big cull to move or did you take them all with you.
January 19, 201114 yr Author Good luck with it all Kaz, At least you have the garage to breed in. Did you have to do a big cull to move or did you take them all with you. I havent moved yet Splat. We have moved 80% of our stuff to the new house but Ken cant get time off work so we just move stuff in dribs and drabs. I cant move the birds till the aviaries are put up and that will be end of January. Then I move the birds and I also have to move my leadlight workshop stuff too. I havent culled any birds because theres nowhere to sell them over here right now so they will all go, and I will cull them when I get there Edited January 19, 201114 yr by **KAZ**
January 19, 201114 yr Sorry Kaz, I thought you moved over Christmas. So you are in limbo at the moment then. I bet you can't wait until all moved in. Is Ken keeping his job or Transferring or is he retiring? Edited January 31, 201114 yr by **KAZ**
January 19, 201114 yr Author Sorry Kaz, I thought you moved over Christmas. So you are in limbo at the moment then. I bet you can't wait until all moved in. Is Ken keeping his job or Transferring or is he retiring? We began moving over Christmas but we can only do it in two day bursts and its over 200 miles away. Ken cannot retire till August. He can only transfer if there is a job there.
January 31, 201114 yr Author So far we have erected two aviaries for my budgies. They will be in a smaller space than they have right now.
January 31, 201114 yr what, no happy snaps of the new digs? Will all 2354 birds you have fit or do you need to send me the good one for safe keeping?

I hope whoever buys your old house realizes what an awesome bird facility they are getting!!
February 6, 201114 yr Author Almost ready two new aviaries for the new place Still think I have to get the first aviary more level yet to do list......... finish flooring area ( has mousemesh and yet to complete sand cover ) Put perching in Feeding and watering areas Lay cement slab path between both aviaries and shed cut away excess mouse mesh and peg down mousemesh joins with tent pegs under sand layer add metal sheeting to cover lower mesh areas. I hate the idea mice can just walk through the mesh so I will sheet the aviaries to 3ft high all around. One of the aviaries has weatherproof sides that attach for bad weather To be continued Edited February 7, 201114 yr by **KAZ**
February 7, 201114 yr Author Birds being caught up and moved this week, somewhere between mid week and the weekend.
February 7, 201114 yr Author Hope it all works out okay Dave I think I can extend the long galvanised aviary out to the same level as the other one at some point, or create a new aviary in that area. Still havent got a birdroom, but I can make use of part of my leadlight workshop.
February 7, 201114 yr Hi Kaz, It is looking great. Will you keep your birds like this for a while now (until you have the funds back to rebuild another bird room/aviary, or is this realy just a complete tempoary-as-soon-as-we-move-in-completley-we-will-fix type of thing?

Its not a funds thing....not about money at all. But we have to build a large garage for the cadillacs, so until that goes up I cant do the aviaries permanently. I plan to build off the back of the garage later on. Might be at least 6-8 months till the garage is completed.
