January 12, 201015 yr well done Finnie Thanks, I'll learn to be a techie, yet! (And maybe grow a sense of humor in the process- my kids will be so impressed!
February 24, 201015 yr Author Evening/dusk in the flights........none of these guys stay up the open end at night...they are just getting the last of the daylight before they go to roost. I changed the end of the flights. Have put natural branches in instead of the dowel perching arrangement. More for foot exercise than anything. Today was very hot. Each flght had a water filled air cooler going all day. The birds were comfortable enough to be chattering all day and not silent like they are when overheated. Bought one air cooler from the recycle section of the rubbish tip for $10 and ken found the other one thrown out on bulk refuse throwout earlier today. Edited February 24, 201015 yr by KAZ

February 24, 201015 yr Author I saw this in the shout box and had to say CONGRATULATIONS on your new grandbundle of joy :o I hope it all went well Sounds like she left it too late to go to the hospital as she had to have this one with no epidural as there wasnt time and a nine pound baby is big for a tiny thing like my eldest daughter who is a size 8. ouch

February 25, 201015 yr Wow Kaz, how exciting to have such an amazing setup. Yeah, the waiting must be a pain but what you will gain in joy As a renter and a single mum I get so frustrated with my 'limits' although I'm very lucky to have understanding owners! I build my aviaries on my own and am so proud that I built one 1.8m * 1.2m * 1.8* , with roof and 1 side in ply, all by myself with my gorgeous 4 y.o son (who is autistic) holding pieces and handing me nails/screws. I was so proud of him and myself foir this feat! and with her granma ( me ) Woops again! I was commenting on your aviary not your beautiful Grandaughter as a 'great setup' I'm still learning how to navigate this site! She's gorgeous!

Fantastic....We have a lot of members in the same boat as yourself ....And i raised my kids alone for a very ling time too so I know how hard it is going it alone and doing your own things. Good for you
February 25, 201015 yr Thanks Kaz, I've only just worked out that this aviary design was started a couple of years ago and it hasn't gone smoothly. But a beautiful granddaughter has . I'm very happy for your family, I'm still trying to navigate this site but you seem to have a great 'family' here too.

March 1, 201015 yr Author Redoing my birdroom while all the birds are not breeding. I am changing the cabinet setup in there so they go all around the walls in a U shape and keep the middle of the room free for more light. It means making two corner cabinets to use the corners of the room more efficiently too. I am also redoing the countertop and sink, locating the sink more in the middle of the countertop for ease of use, more space each side of the sink, and so its more under the window. It does mean I have to redo the countertop which is a pain but it will be better than it is now.
