December 4, 200915 yr Here is a floorplan of my aviary. It is a work in progress. The newest area is the bird room breeding area. We have just fitted lights on timer switches, low wattage lights for night frights, power for vacuuming, air coolers, etc. Have yet to tile the floor in the birdroom, insulate the walls and line them with ply. http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r145/kazzart/aviaryXX.jpg You have some real nice exhibition budgies there. I love the Cinnamon grey's and the WF (?) Blue in the second picture I love your aviary, in total how long has it taken to build it? Too long   Looking back at your first post in this thread, that is definitely a looong time! What a super accomplishment. It must feel great, huh? (um, Bubbles?)

December 5, 200915 yr Flirting is one thing, but any of us that have put a year old hen and cock pairing down in a breeding cage and watched as they stared at each other know that some birds, flirt as they like, have no idea what to do once they have hooked their catch - LOL

December 12, 200915 yr Oh my gosh these bird are just to darn gorgeous! I want that beautiful guy.... it's a crime for him to be so cute!
December 16, 200915 yr Author Found the blood trail  couldnt find the budgie that was hurt. Eventually I found her...she is one of my ground dwellers and has an injured foot.......possible loss of much of one toe. Suspect bitten by another budgie. I will let her rest for a little while before I bathe and investigate the wound as she most likely will bleed some more and she needs to get over the shock.
December 16, 200915 yr Author That is alot of blood, hope she is going to be okay. She is a crippled budgie, one of my duds, a runt of a litter so to speak. She has escaped permanent culling a few times. I thought I would let her in there and see how she went. I dont think she eats very well either. So, whatever will be will be with this one. But I will care for her as best I can. Anyone know how to clean the blood off the concrete ? Edited December 16, 200915 yr by KAZ
December 16, 200915 yr Poor girl! that is A LOT of blood. She will need a good 2-3 days of rest to replenish the blood loss. Use bleach to clean the blood. I used bleach in my bird room all the time... your flight has plenty of ventilation so there wont be any issues with the bleach.

I used bleach in my bird room all the time... your flight has plenty of ventilation so there wont be any issues with the bleach. She's a bit thin. I crop fed her too with some calcivet for glucose and egg powder for energy. Leaving her foot alone for the moment. Will clean and dress it later.
December 16, 200915 yr Author Update.....no missing toes although it loooked that way. The two back toes on each foot have overgrown claws due to her deformity and lack of exercise ( she is a floor dweller ) the claws are fully curled back on themselves and stab the toe making it bleed. Only solution is full removal of claws. I wont put her through that .......she has been cleaned up and bathed. Edited December 16, 200915 yr by KAZ
