November 1, 200915 yr Author That is really looking great Kaz, I am going to make a perch set like that better than banging your head all the time  Not that hard to do Splat and also easy to modify one you already have I would say.  We have done the rest of the meshing for the open air popout suspended section today.  Now ...to do list....  1. fill gaps in concrete between slab and colourbond metal.  2. Fill any sharp edges and smaller gaps with gap filler.  3. Fit hatch door for access to outside fence.  4. Fit front wall and windows, and mesh the front window.  5. Make another hinged perch section for the front flight.  6. Clean wire.  7. Add feeders  8. Add birds.

November 12, 200915 yr Author Back to work on the aviary...some new photos. I put another piece of timber down the middle of the perching setup due to too much bounce in perches over wide distance. Â Used garden fittings to attach. Â the popout open air sections ( two of ) Â Â

November 12, 200915 yr Author It has reall come along well. Congrats. Liv is headed back your way?  Yes Liv is coming for another visit in a few weeks   Here is one of my new perching arrangements in the aviary....to save birds heading straight for the windows I arranged three perches ( two done one to go ) over each of the windows. I used the brackets for hanging curtain rods, attached them and drilled perches onto them so if the birds fly at the window they have somewhere to land and somewhere to be feeling the breezes through the windows too. Curtain rod brackets are good for things like attaching perches.   Â

November 13, 200915 yr Kaz, you're a genius! Â Now I know what to do with my many perches that are too small to fit in my new, larger cages!!! No reason this wouldn't work inside a regular cage, as well as an aviary. :bliss: Â Â Â By the way, it's great watching your new aviary shape up. You must be getting pretty excited now that soon you will be putting the birds in. They are so going to love it in there! Â :grbud: :dbb1: :ausb: :oliveb: :redalbino: :fly:

If it werent for the deaths of my father and father in law over the past fortnight or so, I am sure I would be ecstatic But its taken the edge off it a bit. I will try and get excited watching each bird find its wings and enjoy the space Its so close I can taste it
