April 1, 201015 yr Author Just think of the money your making to spend on bills and budgies This is very very true and a couple of auctions coming up too
April 4, 201015 yr Author Just found a white DF spangle hen in the aviary acting very strangely. I worked out she is BLIND. Tested her fully and she has gone blind. She has produced some nationals winners.  Anyone want a cage pet budgie ? Euthenasia may be an option. Meanwhile she will be put in a cage on her own.   ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------  some of the other budgies  My one legged boy PEGLEG PETE  Young cock bred from Clint Ault hen and Gary Watson/Cec Gearing cock  One of Omelette's boys  One of Omelette's girls  Young greywing cock Edited April 4, 201015 yr by KAZ
April 4, 201015 yr Author Oh no Karen... Poor girl... I'll have her Karen if she needs a good home... She will need a cage of her own if you can manage it
April 4, 201015 yr I can manage that... I'll convert a older breeding cabinet to a holding cage just for her... So she will still be near the others and feel safe... Edited April 4, 201015 yr by LittleBudgie2005
April 4, 201015 yr Euthenasia... nooooooo! I hope you find a home for her, or take up Little budgies offer. Many a blind animals has lived a long and happy life! Â A question about that lovely log in your avairy. Will you do anything to stop the knot in the log becoming a nestbox? Or is it too small? Edited April 4, 201015 yr by maesie

April 4, 201015 yr Author Just a point to make.........I DO keep a few cripples, and birds with issues. I have a one legged budgie and a couple of oneds with wonky legs, one with a broken wing etc. I would rather Calley ( the blind DF ) was spoilt in someone else's home than making do here. Keeping her in the aviary, means she flies into walls and panics and she also makes the others fly madly about in the process. I could keep her in the breeding room myself, but if Little budgie wants her too she can go live there. Calley doesnt mind a cuddle it seems     VIDEO   This is her when she hears a noise ( me ) besides the show cage she is in Edited April 4, 201015 yr by KAZ
April 4, 201015 yr Calley is just beautiful... She will have a great home with me and be very spoilt indeed...
April 4, 201015 yr Author Calley is just beautiful... She will have a great home with me and be very spoilt indeed... Well thats just great....she is the mother and grandmother of nationals entrants so she deserves a bit of spoiling. I also have a funny feeling that she may be tamable, even after all this time. Once you are holding her she loves a head scratch and a bit of fuss  ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------  soft food time in the aviary    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------      Brothers  Edited April 4, 201015 yr by KAZ
April 4, 201015 yr I will defaintly give the taming a go... Even just the head scratching would be great for her...
April 4, 201015 yr I have a blind pet rat, and she's the most sweet natured of all my rats. You'll notice her other senses to be very fine tuned, and they do become very dependant on you. That being said, they get around like they don't have any disability at all. I look forward to following her journey.

That being said, they get around like they don't have any disability at all. I look forward to following her journey. She is a little stressed by her " new health condition " but she is now in a cage of her own and has to learn to find her way around to her food and water. The cage is just one I was given....not too small and not too large considering her impairment. She is doing a lot of cocking her head and listening. Â Â Â
April 5, 201015 yr You have some beautiful birds Kaz i look at your photo's and say to myself i'll have that one and that one and that one................. Â Hope Calley has a wonderful long life with littlebudgie.

April 5, 201015 yr Author Calley has found the top perch and looks happy enough in the cage. I also gave her a larger food dish to make it easier for her to find both up top of the cage and down the bottom. You have some beautiful birds Kaz i look at your photo's and say to myself i'll have that one and that one and that one................. Hope Calley has a wonderful long life with littlebudgie. Thankyou.....I am starting to see good things in the aviary She'll be a new woman in no time, you'll never know she can't see Thats good. For right now she is trying to figure out what has happened to herself I guess.
April 7, 201015 yr Kaz can you do a pictorial of your aviary? Â I'd love to see it in it's completness
April 7, 201015 yr Author Kaz can you do a pictorial of your aviary? I'd love to see it in it's completness Can do, Daz, once I get my workload for this week finished. Work is crazy right now and it keeps coming Also I am amidst redoing the birdroom layout and kitchen area.
April 8, 201015 yr Author Calley is okay. She finds her water, her food and her perches. Mostly she sits and cocks her head from side to side listening to things  ----------------------------------------------------------------  Normally I mix the extra japanese millet into the seed drum, but today I gave them a dishful in each flight. They acted like it was catnip to a cat       and a new addition to the family...........HARLEY  Â
