March 22, 201015 yr Author We have just experienced a flash flood thunderstorm. I now know before winter that the new aviary leaks in a few spots, some pretty badly where the laserlite sheeting joins the corrugated sheeting and also up the end where the open section is too. Back to the drawing board
March 22, 201015 yr really? Got any idea's how your going to plug the holes? Least you can laugh about it.
March 22, 201015 yr Author really? Got any idea's how your going to plug the holes? Least you can laugh about it. Silicone for the most part................redesigning the open end of the aviary too is now necessary
March 22, 201015 yr Just when you think its all done... something else to do... I think you may have to go back and re fill in that interview
March 22, 201015 yr Author Also means birds are on coccivet tomorrow or better still, I will do it NOW
March 22, 201015 yr Your place too Kaz? We had a massive thunderstorm here and we had water coming inside the main bedroom window, Charlize's bedroom window, a dining room light fitting and the whole patio was under about 5cm of rain. Our empty rainwater tank *2500L* is now a quarter full and rising. And my poor birds - silly things first thought they would have a lovely shower in the rain when it started, and looked like drowned rats - then came the massive downpour and I just want to towel dry each one and tuck it in for the night. The floor is wet, which I was expecting as it's not sealed. They have a few leaks in their roof where I think I will need to silicone and I am definitely going to change the end roof from wire mesh to sold tin roofing. I think there is just way too much rain coming in there. Kaz, I hope everything plans out well for yours
March 22, 201015 yr Oh yes I've done that I made sure I did that earlier today, when it was slightly sprinkling. I am planing on changing the floor abit but will go to my aviary thread and talk about it there
April 1, 201015 yr Author Budgies are all in breeding mode.........flirting in the aviaries is going above and beyond :hap: I paired some up nearly two weeks ago and we now have eggs. Interesting little things in the aviaries make you see they all want to breed............even those who are way too young ... Heres two from the adult flight. They though a knothole in the tree trunk up the popout end of the aviary mighht be a good place to raise eggs and babies she was trying her best to make an entrance and this fellow has cracked onto a substandard green hen She isnt right for his partner and may be culled. I will pair him up later today with a more suitable female.
April 1, 201015 yr Author These two boys were getting very affectionate with each other BUT they are brothers ( Omelette's sons ) so its all good 5-6 pm in the pop out end of the aviary
April 1, 201015 yr Author Birds are looking great. Can't wait to see the breeding progress I will put some more down to breed this weekend but I also need to make another few breeding cages......the new corner units. Work ( leadlights ) is at crazy levels right now. That hail storm we had in Perth over a week ago caused damage to leadlights that are now landing on my doorstep. I have 60 to make so far and more arriving all the time...remakes and repairs. I tried avoiding a job earlier today by quoting it high so I didnt get the job.............but i got it anyway I went out and when I got home there was another two windows at my front door to be repaired Edited April 1, 201015 yr by KAZ
