Posted March 11, 200718 yr Bobby was sitting on my shoulder today and sneezed on me, I felt wet all over my cheek I have never been sneezed on before and wasn't expecting moisture! Is it normal for a budgie to sneeze wet sneezes??
March 11, 200718 yr Our birds sneeze on occasion, which is normal. Just like us, they sometimes get stuff in their nose and have to get it out. However, the moisture sounds like it could be more than just a little dust or something in the nose. Is he acting differently at all? Resting more or being fluffed up more? Is he quieter or less affectionate than usual? If you notice anything that seems different, I would definitely take him in to get checked over by a vet. If he does have a respiratory issue, it can become VERY hard to treat if it gets into his lungs, so taking him in sooner is much better than later.
March 11, 200718 yr I'd observe it for now. My birds have on occasion given me wet sneezes too, and they did not have any issues. A one-time icky sneeze isn't always cause for alarm. If he had been playing in damp lettuce, or dipped his head into the water dish too far, etc. it could cause a wet sneeze. If it becomes more frequent I would take him to the vet.
March 11, 200718 yr Blinkie sometimes wet sneezes, usually after he's had a good dig around in his nostril with a claw. Then he'll snot all over me! Unless it's all the time i wouldn't worry too much.
March 12, 200718 yr I have never had a budgie sneeze on me, my eldest budgie Happy sneezes a lot and has for years, the vet says it is an allergic reaction. Lovebirds and tiels have sneezed dampness on me from time to time, I observe them but they are okay so I guess once in a while is normal.
